Fenix 6 Pro Titanium with vented titanium bracelet tightness for good HR?

Hi

I am thinking of buying the above watch, however a friend of mine who has the 6 pro but in black with the black strap says that it does need to be tight when running etc to ensure you get a good HR. I think he even tightens it a bit for activities.

Has anyone experienced any issues with the vented titanium strap not being tight enough for accurate HR's?

Or is there a way to make small adjustments easily built into the strap?

If this is a problem i assume i could just have a 2nd strap, but it doesn't seem right.

Many thanks

Rob.

    hi,

only use silicone straps when doing workouts and the vented only during office hours

Or is there a way to make small adjustments easily built into the strap?
    • there is but I would not call it easy
    • it is easier switching straps than shortening the band by shifting the pin
If this is a problem i assume i could just have a 2nd strap, but it doesn't seem right.
    • am I wrong in the assumpttion that you already have a second strap Slight smile
I think he even tightens it a bit for activities.
    • good procedure, watch movement during arm swing is not wanted

    happy & safe sporting

  • Vented titanium here.

    Zero issues with HR.

  • Even though garmin recommends the silicone strap for recording activities, I’ve only seen negligible +/-5 bpm (max) difference compared to the HRM while cycling, which is pretty much exactly as silicone band.

One word of warning though, the titanium bracelet gets scratched even if you look at it wrong, so use caution.

  • It comes with a second silicone band and with the Quickfit connections it's very easy to swap them. I use a metal band, not the titanium one but same idea, with my 6X for everyday use and switch to a silicone one for workouts. While I don't think the optical sensor would be a problem with the metal band it's less comfortable for a workout, especially running where your arms or moving rapidly, since the metal band does move around on your wrist a bit more and is harder to snug down. And since the metal band is my everyday band I wouldn't want that as snug as the band I use for workouts anyway.

As for adjustments, like OnlyTwo said you can adjust it by shifting the pin on the clasp or by removing links. It's very likely you'll have to remove some links when you get it in order to size it properly but it's definitely not something you'd want to do prior to each workout.

  • Brilliant thanks for all the responses. Titanium it is then.

    Hi,

Over the years I have enjoyed the Garmin Fenix 3, Fenix 5 and I now have the Fenix 6 with titanium and silicon bands. The titanium band looks very cool and is extremely light but the quality of finish is poor as it cuts into my wrist even though I had it professionally fitted. I have tried various positions for the clasp but it feels terrible and cuts into my wrist as the sides of the clasp are very sharp and the internal hinge is horribly rough. I am back onto the silicon band..........

Buy the Fenix 6 with silicon bands ONLY!

Oh and you have made a thread with the same copy and paste too. Is this is a crusade ?
This forum is a place to go when you want to read how crap your beloved Fenix is...
Hardware or software ? Just crap.

Here is my answer to your thread :

I "love" that kind of "order" because one got a bad experience. Fitting with any bracelet is personnal.

First you don't mention if you got the vented titanium band (available for one year since the release of the F6) or the classic titanium band (available again on the Solar and designed for the F5).

Oh BTW I'm a happy wearer of a vented titanium band and I really recommend it for 24/7.
The quality of the clasp is just perfect. The two finishes makes it stand out. The scratches are REALLY easy to erase with jeweler pad at 5 euros.
It is hard to make it fit since the little titanium screws are hard to remove and need a jeweler with the right tools to make it fit to your wrist. I have learned titanium on titanium can get stuck. It is known on full titanium watch.
But even then there is 4 little holes with a springbar for you to micro adjust it by yourself.

My opinion on the vented bracelet after a hot summer with the obligation to watch your hand and wrist every hour ? It is just perfect.
And yes the silicon was giving me rash but not titanium.
You mileage may vary but I love mine. Some pictures over 9 months of wearing the vented one. I use to wear a Chinese copy which I still got and for a quarter of the price is also a great fit. I also wear Nick Mankey's and leather bands but for 24/7 -> titanium ! ;-)

  • Well an update after almost 2 weeks of ownership of the fenix 6 pro titanium with vented titanium band.

I love it! Amazing watch, it looks great and the data i get from it is incredible.

I now own the running pod sensor and bike cadence / speed sensors . Not quite convinced on the vector 3 yet! Maybe I will ask the wife for Christmas, £600+ Is a big jump in cost!

When I run I generally use the polar chest HR strap, but I don’t think when I tried I had any issues without it.

Sold my Apple Watch , which to be fair had started gathering dust! What’s the point in a fitness tracker that doesn’t have a battery that lasts a few days ?

My only criticism.....Garmin sort it out so I can import any training plan into Garmin connect! I have one or two in excel, but I haven’t a clue how to import them other that one workout at a time!!! Surely a simple web form that I can copy and paste into would take a dev no time to make ...

But apart from that love it! ( my brother now also owns one after my glowing review to him)

  • Regarding jeweler’s pads; how do you handle the “garmin” brushed finish at the clasp?

I have 12000 grit microfiber and I rub the clasp to blend in the scratches Avery couple of weeks, but I’m weary of rubbing the “GARMIN” on the clasp since it’s sort of a brushed finish and not polished as the rest of the clasp.

I must agree, for 24/7 comfort it's tough to beat the vented Titanium:
