connection failed freezes

I tried setting up Amazon Music and when I tried to connect the account, I didn't get the code right the first time and the watch displayed a White X on a red background at 12 o'clock with the message Connection failed. I don't carry my charging cable around all the time so when the battery died and I recharged it everything worked and I set it up sucessfully and kept going about my business.

Today, I tried to connect to my phone's mobile hotspot so I selected the network on the watch and entered the password but had the hotspot at 5GHz which I realized while it was trying to connect, then I switched the phone to 2.4 GHz but got the exact same error and the watch is froze again.

Is this a known issue? Any fixes out there?

same "connection failed" and stays like that...watch becomes unresponsive. hold down power (left upper 'light' button) for like 15 or 20 seconds to get it to restart. Strange.

So far I tried different WIFI networks, I split my 2.4G and 5G SSID to make sure this is not the problem and I tried a "soft reset" (w/o deleting the data). Nothing worked. I also tried to remove and add the network using the watch, Garmin Express on Windows 10 and Garmin Connect on my Android phone.

Everytime I try to connect to any network, the watch freezes on the "connection failed" screen and I have to power it off / and on again using the light switch.

This is a real showstopper for me. One of the major reasons I bought this specific watch was the possibility to listen to Spotify while running w/o having to carry a phone. Since Spotify needs WIFI to update the lists, I cannot do this anymore.
