Just bought a fenix 6 Solar and the compass is way out. I have done all the recommended things to resolve this but still no luck. How can this be sorted?

I have the same issue and the following worked for me.
It looks like the Magnetic variation is not working correctly in Magnetic / Grid / True mode. Open the compass click the Select button (Top Right)…
I suspect this has something to do with the watch not determining magnetic declination for your location correctly. It gets it automatically but perhaps the automatic setting doesn't work as expected.…
Great, many thanks @Nick ! I've been trying all modes except this one, and of course it was setuped to 107°E !!! I put 1°east witch is Paris/north France magnetic declination and it works great…
I had this happen once awhile back. I eventually removed the compass widget from my watch, reinstalled it and it finally calibrated correctly and has been fine since. Maybe this will work for you too.
Would you please explain a little more detailed about the issue and what you have done so far. What means "way out", North points to real South?
Which compass settings are used?
Be sure that you aren't near a magnetic field, e.g. electric applicances etc.
Since the magnetic compass is orientation dependent the watch face should point upwards to the sky direction.
Its out by around 90 degrees. Ive stood in the middle of a large field to calibrate. I've deleted the widget and reinstalled. Still out by 90 degrees. I know its wrong from where the sun sets and rises and using my orienteering compass
Try to calibrate the compass by moving it in your hand as described in the video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGkRq5sSkW4
and try different settings, e.g. North Ref. => True/Magnetic
is there a solution? deleting the compass app and reinstalling it did not improve the situation
fenix 6s solar with FW 12.10
I have the same problem. Currently on my 3rd watch after returning 2, the current one came directly from Garmin. Interestingly the compass on this one worked out of the box, but the altimeter was out. As soon as I calibrated that with GPS + DEM the compass immediately went out by more than 90 degrees. The problem is currently logged with Garmin support. And yes I have done all the calibration stuff stood in the middle of a field away from anything.
Hello, I encounter the same issue on my Garmin 6 std, my compass shifting by 80/90°, south instead of east.
I asked Garmin a week ago but they do not answer...
I did all the setup, my nothing....
This fix worked for me too
I forgot to specify that I had the last firmware 12.20
I've had to calibrate mine a few times since the last update.
