Anybody got ideas when Garmin will release a stable version 12.0 that fixes all the issues that a lot of people are having with 11.10

Version 11.10 obviously has a lot of serious issues for a lot of users depending upon which fenix 6 you bought.

Just wondered if anybody in the know would have any idea when a new release would be forthcoming to fix all these ridiculous issues and also present us with a new set of amazing bugs we can talk about

  • I think new beta firmware will be released next week, maybe with new features from Venu SQ & Forerunner 745

  • I plucked it out of thin air. It was an example, demonstrating that you can sell a small number of high cost items, or an awful lot of cheap items but the result is the same. A lot of money.

And FMS software isnt just the same at all. Over the years they have had many different hardware lines which require comletely different coding and more importantly testing and certification which is expensive.

Watches are really just commodidity items, A CPU, a wifi chip, a bluetooth chip, a gps chip, a motion sensor etc. Individual modules are plugged in, A lot of the software is just ported, a WiFi driver is pretty standard, you can google it and download them.

Exactly, why do Garmin Aviation FMS/GPS devices work because they have to. Garmin could not sell them if they didnt and they would not get certification.

However, they can sell any old rubbish in a watch because its a commodidity item, its cheap, they sell millions of them, and we buy them and put up with the bugs because the general public is conditioned by all the other stuff they have bought previously that hasnt really worked properly either. They just think thats the way it is with software.

Garmin dont need to put a huge effort into QA because we are forced to do it for them.

  • This is what you say about Garmin:

they can sell any old rubbish in a watch

Garmin dont need to put a huge effort into QA because we are forced to do it for them.

when a new release would be forthcoming to fix all these ridiculous issues and also present us with a new set of amazing bugs we can talk about
    exaggerating..

This is what you say about Apple:

    Well done Apple.

Why don't you go to Apple?

I think it will make you despair if you continue to upset yourself here. If you have problems with certain bugs, the best thing to do is to contact support to sort it out. This will be the best way to go.

But to your question why you opened this thread, you have now received an answer (ok, not about a stable 12 ;) :

I think new beta firmware will be released next week
  • Apple is an example of a closed architecture and they manage to produce devices which work a lot more reliably than Garmin. How is that so ?, when Garmin is also a closed architecture, and they cant seem to manage it.

I have already contacted support like a lot of other people have on here and as you can see from their responses, customer support isnt Garmins stong point.

Actually Support contacted me yesterday and want me to send them log files generated from beta release 11.10, but unfortunately I have already downgraded back to 10.10 to get stable battery life, so until I get back from hiking in 20 days time they will have to wait.

Do you have shares in Garmin ?, you defend them blindly.

Beta software ?, well thats a guess I think. I have a version on my 6X sapphire that works now, and as I need it next week, I wont be upgrading until I see proof that the next release actually fixes a lot of the issues and doesnt introduce even more.

  • Do you have shares in Garmin ?

I should think about that. The annual report looks pretty good. Have fun hiking.I think your heart rate will be low while doing this :)

Maybe you can relax a little there.

  • just had my aviation medical, According to the AME I have the blood pressure of a teenager. :-), so I am generally relaxed, apart from when software doesnt work, when it should.
