Same here.. after this mew update in the morning.. my battery is down from 100% to 68% within 9 hours... Bluetooth off, wifi off, pulse ox off.. keeping my usual settings as before.. when i used to ha…
I use 100% battery in 20 hours on a Fenix 6s pro which I’ve only had for 10 days. Was fine before update
HI, I have just had the same thing. Updated to latest release last night with watch charged 100% and this morning its down to 62% afte sitting on my desk all night, no wifi running, no bluetooth running…
Yes I have Connect IQ on my phone also.
Thanks. Not that then. Maybe I'll try reinstalling both and see if that makes any difference.
Now I experienced the battery drain as well but i also solved it. It’s a 3 week old 6 sapphire and just had the fw 15.20 update. Before and after the update I had no problems as such. I experienced that using Bluetooth the battery life was reduced by a third so I disabled that. PulseOX was also disabled and I don’t sleep with the watch. Newly charged the battery said 21 days. All my sync is done over wifi.
However yesterday I experienced a drop in remaining battery life from 18 days to 3 days within 4 hours. It turned out to be a wifi issue. After an activity I saved the workout within the wifi reach but before finalizing the synchronization it lost the wifi connection because I went out of reach and after that I had problems with manual synchronize. I strongly suspect the watch to somehow keep the wifi connection alive and drain the battery completely instead of doing some sort of “stop if it doesn’t work within two minutes and try later later again”. Once I restarted the watch and got the wifi connection reestablished the watch stopped draining the battery. Today I made sure to stay within the wifi reach after workout and there was no battry drain.
I noticed the same behavior when I used Bluetooth and my phone was out of reach. As if the watch constantly was trying to connect to something that wasn’t responding and therefore draining the battery.
Maybe Garmin could confirm this sort of behavior and implement some mitigating actions like resetting the connection a few times and then give us a warning on the watch if sync failed.
Well this is looking bad.
Had no problems at all with my 645, i updated to the 6s (coming tomorrow) for more battery life and it seems there are glitches galore!
Reply to myself, battery is ok! Widgets was confused after factory reset!!
To be honest mine is absolutely fine, fenix 6 (solar), two weeks with normal type use - GPS runs, heart rate on, notifications on, etc.
Your post definitely helps adding why you think you solved it and the circumstances around it, that way we can compare and see if anything matches, otherwise many posts just seem to be random declarations of "I solved it" or "mine is fine" or "mine isn't working" without details. My particular circumstances did not match yours either time, as the watch was always close to the phone, and I didnt have an activity just performed that could possibly be partially saved and I dont do syncs over wifi. So unfortunately distance, wifi and unsaved activity doesn't seem to be "the issue" that applies globally here. I found making sure app was updated (one of the times) and phone and watch rebooted several times cleared it up, only then did it go back to normal, but I'm still not sure what caused it. It most definitely was not bluetooth off/on, wifi off/on (ps some people actually appear to be talking about bluetooth, not wifi here, furthering confusion) or pulseox since nothing was ever changed in settings on mine and all were always on, updates never over wifi. What could still be a common theme as I stated before is software on the phone vs watch being 'out of sync' with each other after an update, and/or possibly a sloppy programming garbage setting causing a communication issue between the two that clears after rebooting (watch and/or app depending on where the error exists on update). This seems to fit my, your (resolved after reboot) and others description and findings as well. I think if there is a global cause, we have pretty much ruled out distance watch vs phone, "wifi", bluetooth, pulse ox, or recent unsaved activity after update alone being the theme over all cases. Of course its still possible there are a variety of reasons this happens, but I'm talking about going with the more likely idea there is one reason (otherwise comparing notes wont help anyone much/at all if there are many reasons).
Just an update on my own experience with the massive battery drain and how I solved it for those it may concern.
It is now two weeks ago that I charged the battery and it started at 21 days of battery life. When I charged it yesterday it had two days of battery life left. Between the two charges it tracked about 12 hours of activities of which half included GPS. That is a pretty good battery life I think.
The past two weeks I watched the sync process every time I saved an activity. Twice I experienced that it didn’t want to finalize the synchronization over wifi so during sync I disabled/enabled the wifi and did a manual sync. No problems experienced with battery drain this way and no need for reboot/reset.
My settings:
Do not wear the watch during sleep
No PulseOX
Bluetooth sync disabled
Wifi sync enabled
Wrist HRM enabled
FW 15.20
I got a very rapid drain from 20% to 15% in the space of about 30 minutes when my Fenix 6 Pro had problems connecting by WIFI to my router yesterday.
For some reason WIFI auto-upload stopped auto-uploading and trying to manually upload activities or re-connect produced an error code or 'no internet connection'
After I resolved the problem (I deleted and re-created the WIFI settings) battery has gone from 15% to 13% over the last 26 hours.
So in my case, I think this drain was caused by WIFI (I don't use Bluetooth as I find notifications annoying)
This is with 15.71 beta.
