Very interested in reply. Would also be nice if there was a way to store more than one rifle / load so I could switch depending on which rifle I was hunting.
It should also be great to have information in MRAD.
I tried to compare with th AB software, Truflite is missing a lots of finctionnalities but I think it's enough for 90% of people and it is free !! Great thanks to its creator.
I'm am a long time user of AB and have a Kestrel Elite.
Truflight is pretty good, but is missing some things that put it behind AB in my opinion. Note that I've not use the AB version on the watch, but I'm talking about their phone app and kestrel Elite and assuming those features made it into the watch. That being Truflight has:
1. No spin drift
2. no cross wind jump
3. no Coriolis effect
4, no MV Calibration (can be done manually)
5. AB watch I believe can pair with supported Rangefinders, not sure if TruFlight can.
Now it's a question of what matters to the shooting you are doing, now I'm being very general here, but spin drift is worth about a click per 500 meters or so depending on twist rate, Coriolis is really a consideration out near 1000m, cross wind jump is very real in higher crosswind situations. These are all small, but real adjustments that have higher importance the further you shoot. MV Cal is the ability to enter real drop data from a range shoot and the MV is calibrated so that the trajectory passes through those points, very useful and important function.....but can be done manually but your environmentals need to match the day the data was collected.
But all these features could be added in the future so TruFlight has a lot of potential if the developer is motivated, but have to say updates appear a little slow at the moment. Not sure about cross wind jump, I think that is AB IP.
All that said I'm using truflight for all my inside 800 work and I like it, less gear to lug around. The profile I enter from my Kestrel that has been MV calibrated, it's pretty close to spot on with the exception of the above items.
