3D Speed and Distance

Good day to all, I have read the earlier posts on this subject, but my question is this: has anyone who has used this feature seen a great reduction in battery life? I turned mine on yesterday as preparation for an upcoming trip. Forgot to turn it off and found a 30+% depletion of battery capacity. Anyone else have a similar experience? Cheers, PK

At the low gradients most people run and ride at, 3D speed and distance is pretty much irrelevant. It is only when you start looking at mountaineering type grades (30+%) that 3D speed matters.

I always use them for trail running and have never seen any sort of increase in battery drain.

Agreed, mcalista. This was a setup test for just such a future trip. It doesn’t seem to have repeated the offending behaviour, so all seems to be well for the moment. Cheers, PK

So I basically can have both of these turned off for my daily sea level flat runs but may be useful steep gradient hikes?

That’s exactly what I am doing, Malcyway, and I will be trying out this feature on my next trip. As long as I get decent battery usage, I’ll be happy. Every other aspect of this watch has been outstanding. Cheers! PK
