Garmin pay secure ?

Can someone at Garmin confirm where the bank details are stored as I no longer feel safe having my bank card details on a Garmin Watch ?

Are all details stored only on the watch ?
May be time to return to more secure Apple Watch if they can’t confirm nothing is stored off the watch itself.

Apple isn't hacked yet!

I like Apple and my home looks like an Applestore ;) but I wouldn't say Apple would be immune to hacks.

On the other hand. If Garmins back-end software is as bug infested…

All pay details are stored only on the watch.

Initial setup is all handled by a 3rd party called Fitpay and then the payment details are transferred to a secure enclave on the watch.

You have nothing to worry about.

It clearly states that card details are not stored on the device or their servers or passed to merchants. How do you know Apple is more secure anyway?

I don’t but I know Apple doesn’t get hacked to the point of losing control of all their systems for a week.

That’s how I feel, all the issues with watch software, then the hack I see a pattern here.

A lot of things continued to work, but does mean for sure that none of it is stored at one point or another on their systems ?

If you still have doubts (after reading the article provided by Markw50) I would suggest that you contact you bank or card issuer and ask how they certify different platforms for payment with smart devices. I once did (when I started to use Samsung Pay) and I feel confident that if they certify a platform I can trust that it is secure and my card can't end up in the wrong hands.

Funny you should say that 2 of the banks I use wouldn’t support Garmin so I had to use a 3rd one.
