The durability of the Fenix 6x watch frame material.

I bought a watch fenix 6x supphire for a year. It appears that the screen made from supphire is very durable. But most of the scratches appear on the metal watch frames I think it made form stainless steel 316 ss. I want the next generation of fenix to improve the material to be more durable. Because the watches are quite expensive

  • My problem (and I have a non-sapphire) is that the black coating is wearing off on edges. I've heard the titanium is better, but the black is definitely wearing off on mine.

  • mine is a non sapphire as well.. so far the experience is not so good.

the edges and corners have started to wear off specially the Raised screw holders.. the screen got a small few mm scratch.. and i baby my watch all the time..

Hard to imagine what would happen to this watch if it really gets used the way it is meant to be used. My 40 dollar timex and casios have taken more beating over multiple years and still managed to look like new

  • For trail running I have one of those plastic bezel covers,. Does the job

  • I've had my 6X sapphire for close to a year as well, and have found the durability to be incredibly good. Aside from the silicon band that is definitely showing its age, the watch would pass for "like new" if I tried to sell it. And in the time since I've bought it, I've most certainly banged it into many, many hard/sharp objects. Rocks, metal tools, branches, the ground.... lots of walls and door handles... nothing seems to scratch it so far.

So I guess this is a "your mileage may vary" kind of thing.

  • had mine for a year as well. i have beaten the heck out of this thing, i can’t believe it still works, much less looks perfect. even got some paint overspray on it working in the yard. after a few weeks, it just wore off!  non sapphire here.

i did wear out the stock strap pretty quickly, the $20 ebay ones seem to be more durable

i have a 21 cm wrist and think the 6x looks like a “wrist clock” and really surprised it’s not beat up because it’s sooo huge!  if folks are seeing a lot of dings, you must be smacking it pretty hard on stuff.
