New watch band smells...

That's definitely not normal. Is it the silicone band? I have the F6X Saphire with a black silicone band and it doesn't smell.

Mine really smelled when I pulled it out of the box.  I washed it and wore it for a few days, and there's no smell now.

Smells like what that's nauseating?  Chemical, decay, my husband's cooking? :)  I never noticed an odor, but it appears you're not the only one. 

The same here. Just got a normal black 6S (sealed, looks brand new, FW 3.00, so very old manufacturing probably). And it smells really bad. It doesn't smell like new silicon or plastic, rather really bad like old clothes or a very old wardrobe/closet which hasn't been used in years. Really bad smell. Cleaned it for a minute with dish liquid and it still smells really bad after a day. Strange, never had that on any of my Garmin watches. Sometimes they smell a little plasticy. But not like old clothes or something. And the band looks brand new too, checked everything. If the watch works I won't return it, I think the smell will go away after sometime. But good to know that I am not the only one. 

Had the same issue. got a new 6 Saphire and the band really smelled. Got a bit better by now. this was definitely not the case with my Fenix 5. Even 3rd party bands did not smell...

I received my 6x pro solar yesterday and it really makes me feel sick... it stinks!!!! I agree with the others, it's not a chemical smell, it's like horrible old clothes left for decades in a damp garage (never had that, lol, but that's how i would imagine it). Glad to read the smell will eventually go away. 

My brand new 6x pro solar smells horrible too. I can smell it from 5 ft away. It reminds me of the way croc shoes smell. Toxic. 

I did some checking and I’m wondering if the foam packing material that was inside the band is the scourge of the smell and the silicone simply “soaked” it up. I’ve washed mine twice and it still stinks. Has anyone bought a new band alone and had it smell out of the box? 

I washed mine a couple of times with just normal hand soap (strap only, obviously) and the smell was gone within a few days.
