Newbie Stryd question

Just did my fist run with a Stryd FP today and have two questions:

1) Before the run I disconnected Stryd from Garmin (no automatic import of activities), reason was that I wanted to compare the distance from Stryd with GPS distance from the F6x. The pod was still registered as a FP with my watch but speed and distance set to indoors. After the run I tried to do an "Offline import" in the Stryd App but the app said the pod didn't contain any runs. Is this "working as design"? Do I have to remove the Stryd Zone DF and disconnect the FP from my watch to get a pure stryd run into the app?

2) Is it possible to get the distance as calculated by the Stryd even if the Garmin activity used GPS for distance?

Afterwards I enabled GC integration in Stryd PowerCenter and the activity was imported but all data (except Stryd only data) seems to be the original Garmin data.

  • 1) No. The Stryd shoud save every run on the pod itself, it does not matter if you have connected it to a Watch. If you do the offline synch your phone should download this data via bluetooth directly from the stryd to the powercenter. This runs do not contain any location data.

    2) Yes, see answer 1)

    3) Yes, this is the data from Garmin. The data directly from the stryd contains no locations.

  • The SportTracks desktop software (now discontinued) had a button that you could easily toggle between manual distance derived from the device (and therefore the foot pod) or calculated distance from the GPS track.

Rubitrack is a desktop software program that I use now. You can right click an activity and select options, where it will allow you to toggle "original device data" on and off. This I believe will show you foot pod distance vs. GPS distance.

There may be other ways I'm not aware of.

  • Do you register your Stryd on the Stryd Application of your smartphone ? You need to add the right ANTid in order to be sure that it will be YOUR Stryd used by the application and not the Stryd of your neighbour during the race :-) You must also provide a unique username not only your simple name to be sure its unique

  • Thanks . That was what I would have expected. Strange that Stryd PowerCenter app said that there was no activity. I will give it another try tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to download the activity from the Stryd FP to Stryd PowerCenter and not the entire activity from Garmin Connect.

  • distance derived from the device (and therefore the foot pod) or calculated distance from the GPS track.

In my case the distance from the device (Fenix) is what Garmin calculates as distance based on GPS info since I set the Stryd (FP) to Distance Indoors and Speed Indoors. In the future I will use it for distance and speed outdoors as well but first I want to compare my regular running routes.

  • Thanks for the tips about specifying ANT ID. Of course I paired it with my smart phone and configured everything including userid. It works and nothing wrong with the data.

  • The Stryd shoud save every run on the pod itself, it does not matter if you have connected it to a Watch.

Did another try yesterday and this time it worked fine:

I also managed to get the pure Stryd data from friday by going into the app-Debug Options-Files and Re-upload the file.

It's a minor difference in distance but on the other hand both where on mostly open roads with no trees or buildings.
