Tips for fixing squishy button

Does anyone have any tips for fixing a squishy button? I've tried soaking it in warm, soapy water a few times. I've also tried to regularly clean around the button with a cotton swab. I haven't had any luck with either. It's just my down button that has a problem, and it probably just has some sweat built up inside because it tends to return to normal when it's wet. Not a major problem and don't want to exchange the watch since everything else works perfectly. Thanks!

  • Thanks! I saw that already and tried everything on that thread, short of returning the watch and taking it apart. Maybe just have to live with it.

  • I had a similar issue with an older Garmin 920XT that has been used in the pool and ocean - the enter button was not depressing normally - and the suggestions such as submersing the watch in hot water and so forth had not worked.  I took the watch apart to see if I could see what was going on and could see when I pushed the button in, it did not freely release back out.  My solution was pretty simple - I used Muc-Off dry lube which is a low-friction lubricant you would ordinarily leverage on bike parts and won't attract contaminants. There is also Muc-Off wet lube.  Any solution with PTFE would probably be suitable too.  I carefully dispersed a tiny amount of the solution around the button and worked the button back and forward until it came good and no longer would stick.  This seems to have done the trick for now and will be simple to repeat in future if required. Good luck!
