So, I have dug around a bit before posting this, but most posts are for older devices and/or a few years old, but I am at a loss for vo2max estimates on my Fenix 6 Pro, and I just want to confirm if there is an actual estimate issue or not with using a Stryd Pod.
Just a couple of primers:
Long time Garmin user across multiple devices that give vo2max estimates and use Stryd (last-gen and current-gen pods)
Stryd (current-gen pod) is set to speed "Always" as Stryd recommends you do
GPS/GLONASS is enabled (just works better in my neck of the woods)
RHR and max HR are set correctly (Lab tested)
HRM-Tri is used for each run (also used on tracked walks in conjunction with the stryd pod)
My last device was an FR945 that I sold off a few months ago to try something and just came back and bought an F6 Pro. It's been about two weeks since I purchased the F6 pro and have completed 5 runs (all within the 10min, 70% HR range for estimate) and 8 walks (not within that range, but tracked nonetheless) and not only have I had no change, but the estimate is drastically low. I was lab tested for vo2max back in May at 51, but the watch is interpreting it at 42 and has not budged. I figured after the first week of usage, it would have moved, but it hasn't. I haven't done a Lactate Threshold test yet, and heat acclimation is about halfway done at this point. Could those two things be playing a factor? Or is it because I derive speed from the Stryd?
Again, I haven't read anything conclusive here if because I'm using the pod for speed and vo2max needs the GPS pace data to spit out an estimate, so I'm trying to get that info. I'm also concerned that because I've used multiple devices over the years (not at the same time and all were the preferred watch) that empiric data is fudging current info. On that point, I have never gotten a clear answer if there's a way to just clean reset Vo2max estimates from your profile account so you can start fresh.
If there's a post that clarifies this to share, or you have an answer, I'm all ears.
