Heat acclimation not updating

I have been exercising in a temp. above 72. The heat acclimation is not updating. Each exercise shows that the temp. was above 72. Is there something I am missing? Some are borderline 72, but when I finish it is close to 80. Also, does feels like impact the acclimatization?Examples

    • I have the same problem as you, I ran in a 24 degree temperature with high humidity and 22 is the trigger in Celsius for the acclimation to work and my status went down 5 points same temperature 2 days ago and went down 4 points.  I have found nothing on the internet To explain this,  hope someone has an answer or a solution.
  • It's because the temperature was BARELY above 72. Your examples are 73 and 74.

It's not like an on/off switch. It's a sliding scale, based on how far above 72 your activity was. If it was 100F, then your acclimation would have gone up quite a bit. But it was only 73/74, so it barely affected your heat acclimation.

Likewise, in Rinaldo1's example above, 24C is barely above 22c, so it wouldn't have had a major impact on heat acclimation. You lose heat acclimation gradually between activities, too. So the reason your acclimation dropped by 5% wasn't because the activity caused it to drop, it was because the activity you did wasn't positively affecting your heat acclimation enough to keep up with the rate that your body is naturally losing acclimation

Hello thanks for your answer C.Sco, makes sense for the fact that I lose Acclimation between activities.  The activity yesterday was only on a 5km With a 3.2 training affect but that temperature with humidity felt like a somewhat more difficult run.  Also it is only a difference of 2 degrees in Celsius but in Fahrenheit is is 71.6 to 75.2.  Too bad it does not take into account humidity as this is the real perceived effort.  I will try a run today at an 82 degree temperature with a slightly higher training affect and report back, NBCSGT let me know if you see a difference when the temperature is above 80.  Cheers !

  • HI,

I do not have definite prove. However, I think the watch needs to get weather data via GC for which your smartphone GPS needs to be on.

If I keep my GPS off on the Phone, there is no heat acclimatization.

As said, not sure if that helps. But it may be worth looking into.

    Cheers
