Time Sync with GPS

Hey Guys,

if I try syncing the time of my 6x saphire manually with GPS, it won't succeed most of the time. I'm stuck in the screen with the red circle forever.

If I try to save my position or to start navigation, there is GPS lock in under 10 seconds.

I have tried installing the new beta firmware, syncing with Garmin Express, deleting the cpe file and do a full reset of the watch.

What am I making wrong or is this a software related issue?

It's fully closed but red.

I have a Garmin Instinct laying around and it is syncing the time without problems over and over again, sitting right next to the Fenix.

Then I suggest you call your local Garmin Support and talk about what they think the problem might be.

If you can't/won't do that, then I suggest your only option is to try a full factory reset - here is a link to the procedure for doing that: How to Reset All Default Settings NOTE: Choose the option "Delete Data and Reset Settings"

I've had the same issue for the past few months. I forgot under which software version it started. I did open a case with Garmin but I never got any response. For me the problem is sporadic. I find if I try again a few minutes later it usually syncs quickly. There is another (old) thread around here about the problem.

Thanks for the info. You're right, it's sporadic. Seems like some weird software issue because fnding my position never fails right after a failed time sync.

Actually it's not that big problem but I hope Garmin will fix this because when you're not connected to the phone most of the time you have to sync the time manually from time to time.

This is not a function I've tried before, but curiosity made me try it now. GPS time sync does not work for my 6X Pro Solar on 9.96 Beta.

I tried firstly directly from within settings and just got a solid red ring that does not change.

Then I went to the Hike standby screen and secured satellite lock within just a few seconds. From there I again went to settings, within the Hike activity, and still sync with GPS sits there doing nothing except the red ring. It appears to be a broken function. Switching to sync with phone takes a few seconds and works just fine.

Maybe the problem is with combined satellite systems rather than GPS only. I use GPS+ GLONASS, but certainly that combination is not working for me.

I used to use it every time before I started a GPS activity because I noticed that after a GPS time sync the positions were much more spot on. It took usually 5-10 seconds in the flat and 0-5 seconds outside.

Recently, I have been experiencing the same issue, full red ring, but no time. As far as I can recall, it introduced in a 9.9x beta FW somewhere along the way as I tried every beta versions.

Last week or so, I just left it there at the red ring while the watch was charged and a couple of minutes later it finished the sync. Never tried since then.

I don't know what to tell you folks, but Sync With GPS is still working like a champ on my 6x Pro Software Version 9.96 Beta:

I have made a quick and dirty video, in comparison with the Garmin Instinct. After 4 minutes not syncing successfully I stopped the video.

Sometimes it will sync very quick, most of the time it's like in the video.

Doesn't matter if I'm in the open field or in my appartement.
