After completing an activity, in GCM my respiratory rate is always a straight line (at the level of my average respiratory rate for the activity) - which is obviously not how I breathe during an activity. Anyone else seeing this too?

The OHR doesn't measure respiration during an activity.
For the more varied changes in respiration rate DURING an activity, you need a chest strap.
Because if you wear a strap you get it. Maybe the question you need to ask of Garmin is 'Why show it during an activity when you are not wearing a strap?'
Only on walking activities .. run ones are ok for me

Ah that figures.. I never wear the strap for walks!
Hmm, GCM clearly shows RR for the activity (average, minimum, maximum - although these three values are always the same in all my activities) and I don’t wear an external HRM
While it may record it, the RR data from OHR is just not accurate enough for more advanced analytics that require more precise RR data.
You’re right:

But then why even show the data at all in GCM for an activity?

Yes, I now see my question wasn’t clear - but that’s what I was asking
