Waypoints Imported from GPX to Garmin Fenix 6

When you import a GPX file to Garmin Connect, it does not load the waypoints. I can also not upload a "course" with only waypoints, which is what I'm really after because I don't want a route, I just want waypoints that I could navigate to if I get lost. I can do this in Garmin Explore, but then can't use that to update my watch, only my inReach. Any advice on how to do this? I don't want to manually put in coordinates for all of my points. Thanks!

Of course you can sync waypoints from Explore to the watch. Its not super straight forward, but it works.

Copy the Gpx file to the watch by connecting to a PC, to the "NewFiles" folder inside the "Garmin" folder. This way you will have the GPX waypoints.

I accomplish what you are trying to do by building my own Lctns.FIT file (EPIX Gen2 filename) and putting it in the NewFiles folder on the watch. They then appear as 'Saved Locations', and you can see them on the map or navigate to them without anything related to a course. Waypoints in a GPX file crafted for defining a course become immediately de-coupled from the course once loaded to the watch. Color me perplexed with Garmin's thinking.
