Wondered how the new GG DX was faring for those who didnt opt for the sapphire.

Two scratches after a week. One on the bezel.
Never marked my fenix 5 slate grey.
Never marked a phone screen or used a screen protector.
Really not impressed.
In fact I took a large chunk out my enameled bars with the fenix 5 not a mark on the watch.
Fenix 6 is going to look a proper state after a year or so....
Sorry to hear that.
I think you are damned if you do and damned if you dont as the sapphire has a coating on it which scratches easily.
Going back to my Mickey Mouse watch....
Yeah it's a watch to be used.
It would however be nice for it to remain nice looking for as long as possible. And not scratch the glass and bezel on a wooden door frame..
There's a similar thread on the Marc forum
Completely understand that.
I only recently purchased a 'few' 6X's and 6X sapphires, trying to get non-blue, then reading about the coating on the sapphire scratching easily.
In the end I got the Tactix Charlie because I know the sapphire isnt coated so the lens is bombproof like the 5X and you get the DLC coating.
I have personally knocked the watch into architrave around the doorframe hard enough so some paint was chipped off on the bezel and still not a mark.
Its not as sexy as the 6 however and the battery pales in comparison.
5 or 5X?
I've had my 6X Pro Solar for six months and worn it 24x7 since taking delivery. I was going to say that I have no watches on the glass and none on the DLC. However, I just took a few photos for demonstration and, even though I cannot see any scratches with the naked eye, the camera did pick up one scratch at a certain angle in the glass. It truly is invisible in daily use though.
Scratch visible between the second T of Batt and the solar symbol....
Scratch barely visible at all unless you are looking for it on a magnified image....
When you have to look hard to see it, it is not a problem. I hate the cloudy, dim appearance of the sapphire glass on my 5X+ and 3HR, which is what drove me towards the Solar model, and I wanted DLC rather than a softer, less wear resistant finish.
The solar aspect did not interest me. It has no material value for many months of the year, especially in the UK. I charge the watch once a week, come rain or shine, with plenty of charge remaining each time, so it's a redundant feature (for me).
EDIT : It looks like there may be another scratch coming out of the top of the 8 in 11:38. First time I've noticed it, and then only by looking at screen filling photos rather than the watch itself.
That's was my choice back in August 2019: a scratch worry free glass and and scratch magnet bezel but easy to polish back to new...
The sapphire is like new and the bezel got character but nothing serious. Surprinsigly as titanium is really less hard than DLC + Steel.
Non-DLC black coating aka PVD is destined to be scratched and let the steel beneath appear... Nit easy to fix unless you want a "Vintage" look and sand all the edges.
That strap looks awesome!
Where is it from?
My fenix 6S Pro after 6 months of wearing it day and night.
A small dent and a scratch on the glass (near the steps icon) and starting wear of the bezel. Nothing to worry about, the wearing and viewing comfort remain exactly the same.
No scratches on the solar Gorilla Glass, bezel is DLC, also no scratches, but not what you asked about there.
