Chestnut leather strap

I've got the Garmin chestnut leather strap. I really like it, but have noticed one half of the strap has been marked by the inner surface of the other half, where they overlap after the buckle. Anyone else have this issue, or know how to remove the marks?

  • Mine is the same, gone much darker. I don't mind it, it is leather after all!

I love that worn in look, I have ordered one today for my Fenix 6pro.  Cannot wait to see what it looks like on the watch!

  • I am excited for mine to get darker!  I just got it and it is way too light.  I have considered dying it with a chocolate leather dye, but I want to see what happens naturally first.

  • I did some testing too...

I have four of these 26mm chestnut straps... So as my friend keeps bees so we filtered the wax and I rubbed the melted pure wax into one of the straps .... When it dried it looked a dark reddy brown, really nice, and well protected.

  • Have you got pictures?  I only have one and they're $100 each (cheapest I can find) so I want to be a little cautious.

  • Every time I try to upload a picture, all that happens is this screen refreshes.... So it's not possible to upload a picture for me here on this forum?

I can post them on my Facebook forum if you ask?.... Or send me a message on messenger and I'll upload the colour difference.... Its a shame I can't upload anything here.

  • When I got the chestnut leather strap it was quite a light orangey colour and I wasn't overly keen on that colour. I rubbed a very small amount of plain coconut oil into it and it darkened it noticably. I preferred the shade with some coconut oil rubbed in. Beeswax is likely to have a very similar effect.

I've now had the strap for 2 years and from regular use it has slowly gotten darker still, to a nice medium brown. See photos below for what the strap looked like brand new with no oil treatment and what it looks like now after 2 years of use. I've applied oil twice and wet-cleaned it 3 times. The dark area near the buckle is from the dark brown colour on the inner layer of the strap transferring onto the outer layer over time. When worn the colour of the strap is fairly even as this darker part is hidden underneath the overlapping part.
