Any chance to introduce screen color settings to let users correct their "bluish" hue screen?

...this would lead to smaller number of returns..

Option exists nearly on all devices that have color screen, am sure its doable..

  • Its not the screen thats in a different color temperature, its just the light, and there is no functionality to change that.

  • Absolutely.
And because the screen is not self emissive, it even more depends on the type of watch screen, i.e DX vs Sapphire.
No chance that the hue can be shifted.

  • Yea it might even be the screen properties when the light shines through and not an issue with the light-source, but both aren't meant to be adjustable.

  • Thank you, just what I was looking for.

  • My watch has the "dreaded" blue tint, but since I have the brightness turned down to 5% to save battery anyways (and the backlight turned completely off during daytime), it's not noticeable enough for me to care. The only reason I would care is it might affect resale value, but since I'll be passing it down to my son when I'm done with it in a few years, and by the time he too is done with it in 5+ years the watch will be worth very little regardless, that doesn't matter to me. Also I don't really do any nighttime activities anyways, so literally the only time I ever use the backlight is when I check the time while I'm in bed. Even then, the screen is still perfectly readable even with blue tint. Just my 2 cents.

I could've exchanged the watch in the first 60 days I owned it, but opted not to since it was otherwise working perfectly.

  • Thanks - without reopening debate - many users make distinction between "still perfectly readable even with blue tint" and "perfectly readable", not to say that many of them also dont have resell plan

But our both comments are going offtopic.

Question was IF the hue can be modified with software update, instead of hardware change. Its not - so lets leave it here.

  • It's hilarious to me that the LED color and temperature fiasco has moved from my flashlight hobby forums (check out candlepowerforums) over to my Garmin watch hobby forums.

We all enjoyed our previous Garmins regardless of mild to extreme bluish tint that they ALL had prior to the F6 series, and many recent of which STILL have, like my Vivoactive 4.

I admit off angle viewing of a blue tinted backlight is affected, but I'd bet a very low % of us have a need to view WITH backlight, IN THE DARK, and OFF ANGLE.  I certainly don't, which is why I still have my very expensive 6X sapphire which is quite blurple (blue/purple) compared to my others.

I'm only 1% concerned with backlight temp and color and 99% concerned with functionality of all promised features, which as those of us who are honest will admit Garmin sometimes struggles with.

Here are my F6 Sapphire, F6X sapphire, and Delta, all at 20% backlight:
