Fenix 6x crashing, lagging losing connection

Hi,

I've tried to email the support several times but I only got automatic confirmations...

So it has started 10 days ago I wake up that the watch has changed the face to a default one. The watch face (the Trainer by Garmin) appear not choosable. The next morning I couldn't turn it off, the battery went down from 98% to 15%. I had to soft reset. The next morning the watch face problem was the same. No battery decrease. After reboot, the watch face is usable again. I found that the watch didn't record my sleep in both evenings. I've changed the face. Since then there is no problem in the evening. BUT: it's losing the Bluetooth connection with the watch. After I try to turn off it freezing with the Turn Off logo and after a while turn on again. After indoor bike training, the watch started to asking PIN for connecting the phone. It's completely forgotten the phone connection. I had to do full delete/reset on the watch, reinstall the app. I have started to work but during the installation when I reach to set the Wifi started to freeze again. The Wifi couldn't find any SSID. Since than I connect wired to the laptop. It seems connected but after checking the watch and shows the Queue for install the connection gets lost.

So it is absolutely unstable.

    Hi,

I have the same problem with my 5th or so 6s (Pro) watch. Never had it with any before but had other problems there like screen issues, charging port getting loose etc.

Now, with 10.10, even after a hardest, the watch just does what it wants, mostly ignoring everything. Most of the time it does nothing when pressing a button, sometimes after a minute it does all the stuff I pressed the buttons before within a second. It always hangs and is lagging big time. As I haven experienced this before and a full hardest does nothing I think the watch has a hardware defect.

Most problem occur when the watch is connected to my iPhone via BT. But sometimes also when not connected.

  • On the 5X forum they recommended this to force a reinstall of the firmware

    Force firmware reinstall
As it seems to be (second to 'master reset') the marvellous cure to all problems (at least from Garmin's support point of view :D ) this is how you do it:
    1. You have to download Garmin's Webupdater which is located here:
    http://www8.garmin.com/support/colle...t=999-99999-27
    2. Install the app, connect your watch, run the app
    3. Click to the point where it says you have the newest firmware and asks if you want to reinstall it
    4. Reinstall it (it will download to the watch), disconnect the watch and then choose yes when it asks you to install the update

    May be worth a try?

Thank you very much. Good advice. Unfortunately it says "corrupt installation file". So maybe there is something to it, a problem with the file installed, still working on the device, but awfully.

Have to search for a 10.00 file...

OK I reseted the watch and without connecting it again to my account tried Garmin web updater and it failed. Then I first connected it to my account again and tried WU again and it worked. And you are right, it now works normal again till now. No stuttering, hanging etc.

A litte silly that I just ordered the Instinct Solar for the Fenix 6s from amazon. I will have to sent one watch back now. Will see which one....

Thank you very much for the WU tip, good to know...
