loading maps and other issues

Hi. First time on the community

I have spent a frustrating afternoon trying to complete what should be simple jobs.

Watch is stuck on Loading maps and I do the light button 10 second reset and then the restart just hangs as it has done for several hours of trying to resolve.

My watch wont be recognised now on my Garmin Express. It says not connected. This is the first time I have used Garmin Express today but earlier in the process the watch was connected whilst i was attempting to upload music.

How can I resolve the loading maps hanging and getting the watch to connect to Garmin Express

Thanks

  • Master reset should resolve the problem.

thanks for the quick reply and advice.

I tried a master reset following the procedure of pressing + button and powering off. One time I had a screen full of data and all the several other times I returned to the same Loading maps notice.

    any more ideas?

BTW I have the 6x Solar Fenix.

    Thanks again

just managed to complete a master reset and said yes to it by selecting the yes for a few seconds. All seemed fine in the restart sequence until it just hangs again in Loading maps...

  • Is Garmin Connect now seeing it? If it is, you can do the reinstall maps from there. I've found re-installing all maps through GC clears this up. It happened to me after deleting a third party map

    EDIT: I mean Express - Thanks Allalin72!

  • re-installing all maps through GC

Install maps with Garmin Connect? I think you confuse that?

  • Argh Express you're right! I always get the names mixed up. Thanks!

    • Power off the watch
    • press and hold start/stop button and lap/back button
    • power ON the watch with keep holding the two buttons simultaneously.
    • once you hear the first beep remove your finger from the start/stop button. And when you hear the second beep remove your finger from the lap/back button

This resolved the locked Loading Maps.... issue. My 6x Solar wouldnt even appear on Garmin Express. i reached out to Garmin in Dubai and they advised the above fix, which seems to have resolved the issue.

    Thanks for all your advice

    EDIT !!!!

Forget all of the above. I plugged the watch into Garmin Express and then transferred my music across after what was a complete factory reset. Files appeared to transfer across OK.

I removed the device from Garmin Express and was met with (now familiar) Loading Maps screen. Watch is now frozen as it was yesterday. Hours and Hours wasted. Come on Garmin!

    VERY FRUSTRATED NOW.

  • I had maps problems a while back. To cut a long story short, I completely removed GE from my pc, including the local cache and then reinstalled GE. From there on I reinstalled the maps. This way, GE has to re-download the maps, instead of pushing them from the cache. Might be worth a try.
