Do Komoot courses show turn-by-turn directions on F6?

Given the recent announcement of Komoot routes syncing to Garmin, I was wondering whether Komoot routes show turn by turn directions on the F6.

In the comments on the DCR blog on the announcement, someone mentions that pushing the route via Connect to an Edge works (while selecting the course from the Komoot CIQ app doesn’t) but no mention of whether the same is the case on an F6.

Of all the routing options, Komoot is particularly appealing because of its flat rate for a world map (vs subscription) but I don’t want to invest in it unless TBT works

Do the TBT directions only show up on the map /navigation view or will it pop up if I’m viewing a custom data screen?

You'll get TBT directions on every single data screen. Just the same as with routes planned in GC.

Great to hear. A few more questions:

- Does TBT work by pushing the course to the F6 from GCM or does it also work when selecting a course from within the Komoot CIQ app?

- Are there any apps/services that generate routes with TBT that also suggest routes of a given distance from a given location? For example, you select a location and say you want to do a 10 mile mountain bike ride. I see some touting services have this option (but don’t generate routes with TBT) but Komoot does not seem to unless I’m missing it

- I see Garmin Connect provides the option to suggest courses of a specific distance/type. Will courses created in Connect only show TBT if in my region (since we are only provided detailed maps for the region where the watch was purchased)?

- If so, is there any advantage to using third party routing apps/services vs Garmin’s?

i have been using komoot with the connect iq app for a while now on an edge 520 and forerunner 945 and the advantage vs directly importing is, that in the via GC elevation is completely absurd, if you import the course directly via Garmin connect and this affects climbpro or pacepro features and possibly turn by turn navigation.

- TBT works only if you import directly

Thanks, I understand the elevation issue - my question is whether Komoot’s courses are better than the ones that can be created in Garmin Connect? I’m trying to decide whether to pay for the Komoot world map but realizing it seems like Connect can do the same thing for free (with TBT and without the elevation issues) but maybe I’m missing something?

i still wonder what i have to do to get TBT with komoot routes on my fenix 6 pro.

if i load the komoot routes with my komoot app on the fenix, i will NOT get TBT.

am i doing something wrong or am i missing a setting?

or do i have to use the new api between komoot and garmin to load the routes first into GC and then sync the route to the fenix?

Importing komoot using the app

Follow courses, you don't have TBT

Using map, you get TBT but it could take a long time to compute the track

Use navigation once komoot has started - you can choose hike , bike etc but also navigation. This gives TbT. Opening in your smartphone will give you voice also, connect earbuds with your smartphone and you have voice jn your ear and a visual on your watch. It even works!
