Ascent wrong since Software 9.0

Has anyone else noticed an error in the total ascent since the last update? My local hill is 500m ascent and since the update I'm getting closer to 600m of ascent on the watch. Last week I did an MTB tour with about 850m of ascent and the device gave me 1200m. Every ride i do now is at least 10% off the correct ascent in many cases the error is much more.

I've also seen climbing speeds of 2000m per hour when I was climbing at closet to 600m/h. These kind of errors I never saw before until after I updated to the newer software.

The altitude seems to be correct, just the ascent and ascent rate are wrong. Anyone else noticed this?

I'm having this exact issue, see my post. Garmin telling me there's nothing wrong with the watch. I'm clearly not alone. This is a joke of a known fault for the premium prices we pay!

Same here ( Very frustrating. And it just started a week ago. Before it was absolutely OK.

It is during running as others mentioned starting in the middle of the run.

And I haven't updated my watches... So not sure what started causing it (We need more information to complete your mandate change. We've sent you a letter that explains what we need from you.

I think there's a hardware fault which is causing these issues as it's only happening halfway through vigorous activities. I went for a hike and the elevation was fine. But running causes it to malfunction after 20 minutes. I don't think Garmin are going to want to do a recall as they're ignoring me.

My current workaround is to put watch over some sweat wristband - there must be no contact with the wet skin/hair... Just finished 1h20 run and elevation gain/loss is normal. Yesterday I did not have this wristband and after 20mins problems started and i somehow managed to climb more than 220m on a perfectly flat football pitch :))

That’s all well and good. But why should we have to do that with the money we spend on the fenix6? Garmin should be addressing the issue.

I have exactly the same (fenix 6x sapphire) with constant wrong ascent between 400/700 meters in flat run of 10km! I posted multiple time this issue.
the problem disappeared if I wear the watch on the right wrist or I use a cover that covers the barometer holes.

to me it’s either a defective barometers hardware (maybe e defective lot) or worst a design issue, which Garmin would never admit...

btw this is completely unacceptable for an 800 euro product! So far I sent the gps back to Garmin for repair/replacement in warranty... see what it happens

Hi, thank you! Sorry, what are those barometer wholes? where they are and how you cover them?

In general I would also try to replace them, but meanwhile need some solution.

The small holes on the right side of the watch. Some people talk about sweat but I thought it was rather the airflow in the direction of the run causing it as if I wear on the right wrist it doesn’t happen. Same as if you use such a cover it works w/o spikes.

btw this makes me very very upset... I see if the watch in repair/replacement solves the problem
