Pulse OX Readings on Fenix 6 Sapphire

Hi all,

I've purchased initially a Fenix 6 Pro (non-Sapphire) and everything went smoothly. I've changed my mind and exchanged it with Fenix 6 Sapphire (which by the way has a beautiful black screen, perfect contrast). However I'm having issues with Pulse OX readings, It is set All Day however I find hours of gaps between readings. I've installed Beta 9 firmware, right now almost one hour after installation it says NO DATA.

The pulse OX Reading is set to all day. Looking in past week with the Fenix 6 Pro I cannot find how many readings it took and I don't remember from the widget how often it should take the readings but I feel that the Sapphire is pretty slow on Pulse OX reading. 

Anybody else faces similar issues? Should I return it? I'd like to keep it as the display is much much better without any blue backlight.

The HR is working great no gaps.

    the pulse ox sensor is very sensitive to movement. taking manual readings requires you to be very still. once in an airplane i couldnt get a reading because too much movement. i guess you just moving little too much for letting enough time pass to get a reading

    I have a feeling that is freezing.

    After a restart although I was moving (driving my car) there were many readings. Now if I look at the Watch, last reading is 45 minutes ago. The red flash is on for several seconds and then no reading. 

    I'm afraid to not be a technical issue

    I have FOUR Garmins--VA4, F6, F6X, and Delta.  All day pulse Ox I tried on couple of them initially.  Besides battery life it just didn't work to take readings all day.  Takes a min or two of being still.

    Try doing SLEEP only and see if you get mostly solid readings.  Then you'll know it's working as designed.

    I've sent it back to be checked and replaced, the sensor was freezing for hours. Strange that the hr sensor worked correctly.

    The screen was full black (not with that blue backlight) that's why I hope to receive a similar watch back

    I see your point however I compare it with the previous watch, Fenix 6 Pro which was reading continuously

    It reads pretty continuously.  It's not completely accurate, 2 to 3 points low when I've compared it at the doctor's office, but unless you move a lot or have a bad fit, you should be getting regular reads.

    Indeed, with the 6 Pro I was getting continuously readings but with the Sapphire only gaps. Initially out of the box it didn't read for an hour or more, I thought it is from the old firmware but happened with the update as well so definitely it had an issue with the sensor. The hr sensor worked correctly, only the pulse ox had issues. 

    What I noticed was that the red light was lightning for several seconds and then stopped, like it was struggling to read. From time to time it was able to read continuously and then freezes back

    Got a replacement which is acting the same, very very low reading in Pulse OX

    Can somebody else tell me how often you have Pulse OX Reading?

    Do I have a defective unit or this is how it is working?

    I'm thinking to ask for a refund and purchase elsewhere

    The settings are ALL DAY READING, I was able to finally get a manually reading after so many hours

    I think I've found something and I'm discussing with Garmin via chat

    I've raised a bit the watch away from the skin and entered into Pulse Ox widget, and basically forced a manually reading. It failed because the sensor was not tight on skin. After that, it never read the pulse ox again, last read one hour ago.

    Basically when it fails to read your pulse ox, it never read it back automatically.

    Can someone try the trick I've did and come with a resolution?

    I hope Garmin will fix this with an update.
