When I pause a activity the screen goes very dim, unless the light is just right i cannot read the screen.

When i finish a activity and hit pause the screen goes very dim and I cannot read it unless the light is just right. Also noticed that the color of the arrow is purple when i hit resume..seems like it used to be green.
