Jacquard-weave Nylon Strap Durability

Hi has anyone got any information concerning how the Garmin Nylon straps are holding up as it’s been a good few months since release. I have the Heathered Nylon at present and have seen issues of nylon fibre damage and fraying after only a few days. Definitely not as durable as ballistic nylon. Many thanks.

  • I've been wearing a black heathered nylon one since September or so and it had become a little faded and also a little frayed. I had been wearing it in the bath/shower but at some point stopped as it took a long time to dry and I thought that was contributing to the fraying. I just ordered a replacement and am not going to get this one wet to see if it lasts longer. I'm okay with this as I much prefer it to the silicone bands. I think it looks nicer.

  • The straps are on sale now.  But, glad I read this post.  Doesn't make sense for me to have a strap that you can't get wet.  That's the whole point of this watch!

  • You can get it wet, but it might wear out faster. Who knows, maybe it will wear out regardless. And actually, I just compared my 8 month old strap with my 3 day old strap. Only the longer side is fraying and mostly at the end. There is also a little fraying at the bend where it straps in. The short side looks almost new. I don't notice any fading. All in all, not bad for every day use with many many showers (until I stopped). Old strap on left, new on right.

  • The Jacquard Weave rocks my 945. Quick Fit 22 makes it a breeze. It makes the watch look pretty damned great for every day wear.  I use a black silicon w/ stainless Quick Fit for workouts. Best of both worlds. The Garmin straps blow the third party straps aways on quality , detail and aesthetics.

  • I have a red & black Garmin nylon strap which I have used for daily wear, for 5 or 6 months now.
I dont wear it for sports (silicon bands allow for better fit) and try not to have it wet, although it has taken water on a few occasions.
it's still in great condition. Pictures here
