Training Status not working

Hello.

I am owner of a Fenix 6x pro (not solar).

Suddenly a few days ago both the watch and the app (Garmin Connect) stopped showing my training status. Although I have done many different activities since them, it displays no status.

Does anyone else has the same problem?

I tried to switch off the widget, to reboot my watch and my phone but with no success. I didn't try to unpair the watch from GC.

Thank you in advance.

  • Are you running outdoors with GPS?  Or biking with a power meter?

  • It's working fine for me. If you go more than a week or two without doing one of the activities mentioned by , the training status will disappear, because it needs recent training activity in order to calculate it.

Only certain activities contribute to training status. I don't know what all of them are, but I know hiking and walking aren't included, for example. I don't think cardio is, either. And treadmill may not either.

  • I believe it is only the Run and Biking profiles for training status.  Biking can be indoor or outdoor but you have to use a power meter.

I have gone plenty of times for outdoor biking (MTB) with GPS enabled  during this week that the training status is off.

  • MTB might not generate a training status but I am not certain and maybe someone else knows for sure.  It might be considered in the same way that trail running is.  You may have to use the Biking profile.

  • Just checked the manual, you need to use an activity profile that will give you a VO2 max reading and the only ones are Running and Bike.  So MTB doesn't count.

  • Why hiking is not included?? So this is not multisport watch? This is watch just for runners and bikers. What a shame. I like hiking and other sports, but Garmin says that i must run or bike if i want to have some metrics. What a bs this is.

  • Hiking is a low-intensity exercise, why would you want it to count towards your training status? If anything, hiking would drag your training status down from where it should be. Other activities are excluded not necessarily because of being low-intensity, but because accuracy would be impossible. This is not a Garmin limitation, it's a FirstBeat limitation. FirstBeat only supports running and cycling for training status metrics. Trail running and mountain biking have too many environmental variables that the watch can't detect, like how soft the ground is. So it wouldn't be accurate. Training indoors without GPS or a power meter would be equally inaccurate because the watch can't otherwise know how much simulated distance you're traveling or how hard you're pedaling.

If you hate Garmin so much why are you still here?

  • Nobody said you couldn't use it for hiking.  But hiking is more a leisure activity than hard training.  Don't be angry about something because you don't know how it works.

  • Firstbeat only generates a VO2Max figure from running and cycling (with a power meter) because these are 2 activities that have been well studied, and pace or power can be compared to heart rate to get an understanding of how hard you are working.

With hiking, there are too many variables - pack weight, trail surface, etc. What would be bs is including VO2Max when there isn't the science to back it up.

But the watch DOES generate Training Load from hiking and other activities, and this TL does contribute to Training Status.

    I like hiking too.
