Garmin Fenix 6X Pro HR is a nonsense - Can't connect Polar H10

Garmin Fenix 6X Pro HR is a nonsense - Can't connect Polar H10
Hi everyone, always been an Apple user bought a Apple Watch series 4 On november 2018, just decided to change it with a Fenix 6X PRO just because Apple Watch is fine in HR accurancy in uphill but not in downhill.
Can't run a trail with a Polar H10 connected for more than 2/3 hours cause the battery sucks.
I was tired of charging it every day.
Got my Fenix 6X Pro since monday, I noticed a high Heart Rate while I was eating.
But in the evening I had a GYM workout and in the rest between the series I saw the Garmin goin up to 125 bpm.
So i decided to put Apple watch on my right arm; the Garmin was about 120 bpm and Apple Watch around 70 bpm.
So I connected the Apple watch  with Polar H10 and it was around 70 bpm too.

In the evening i was in bed, same thing, Apple watch connected with Polar H10 50 bpm while Garmin was at 90 bpm at rest.    :D

Tried to reset the Fenix, in the classic way and in the forced way, nothing changed.
Tried to wear it correctly, nothing canghed.

Tried today installing the 9.00 beta
GPS: 4.31
Sensor Hub: 5.07
ANT/BLE/BT (Pro models): 5.04
Wi-Fi (Pro models only): 2.60

Tried Turnind Pulse OX off, noothing canges

Nothing changes, I noticed the Garmin starts to get the correct Heart Rate after 10 mins of rest.

But in movement it's way out...It was like 100bpm while i was washing my teeth  :D

Can't even connect my Polar H10 cause once connected it loose connection every 5 seconds.

I see the heart rate like 55 bpm an than i see : -----

I tried to remove and re connect Polar H10, nothing canghes.

So first experience with a 800/900€ watch is: ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

I got 2 problems and ask for advices; Is there a way to have a "almost" real heart rate?IDK, like some version of the HR sensor who worked better than others?
Than; Is these some way to connect my Polar H10?IDK, like some version of the Bluetooth who worked better than others?

Thanks a lot

  • I've been using Polar H10 paired to my 6xpro since I bought the watch half year ago. Mostly paired with ant, but ble also working.

  • Use H10 with mine (Ant+).  Works awesomely. Maybe try changing battery in your H10? If you HR is off with movements, maybe your watch is not tight enough.  Physical movement of the watch on your arm is misinterpreted by the sensor as high heart rate.

PS. BLE can only connect to one device.  Thus if your H10 already auto connected to the Apple Watch, it won't be able to connect to the Garmin using BLE as well.

  • Thanks for the reply, unfortunately the battery is fully charghed.

For sure I have dissociated Apple watch before trying to connect Polar H10 with my Garmin.
But her's the new thing i discovered yesterday, I was trying to connect Polar H10 to Garmin: no way, but once i opened the trail running app for a evening run, it automatically detected and connected Polar H10, never lost the connection in 1:30 of running.
I checked under the Garmin during the run and the green lights of the HR were always turned OFF.

So, if I can run with my H10 connected i'm already happy, I mean, I should get the right heart rate all day from my wrist (I wear it tight correctly) from a € 900.00 watch, but is not that important to me.

I really was scared of having a Garmin who just would have bad heart rate during my work outs ..

This morning I tried to wrist hair where the watches touches my skin, just to be sure to eliminate any possibility.

I will tell you how it works, cause I read of people struggling with skin color / skinny arms and wrist and stuff like that.

  • Believe the external HR monitor only works in an activity.  That makes sense to me. Otherwise the watch battery life would be much shorter.

  • BLE can only connect to one device.

Polar H10 can be connected to 2 ble devices plus numerous ant devices at the same time.

  • Yes, this should be the ANT+ technology

  • but once you take off the Polar sensor from the band it turns out, so it  shouldn't waste Garmin's battery life...

  • The reason you can't connect it to the Fenix is because you've paired it with both your phone and your Apple Watch. When it disconnects from the watch, the phone seizes the connection.

Put the phone and watch into flight mode, then you should be able to pair it with the Fenix.

  • First use Polar Beat mobile app to check your configuration of your H10.

Check if two BLE channels are activated.

    Check if ANT is activated.

Use ANT when pairing to fenix6 and then phone, Apple watch and fenix6 can be used in parallel.
