  • I always have used gps only and smart recording with all of my gps watches. Most people do 1 second but smart is all good.

  • You probably do know, but the benefit of others who might not, that Smart Recording does not affect distance and pace, it only affects display of the track you see on the map.

Back in the early days storage space was limited so Smart Recording allowed for the creation of smaller files of the recorded data by only storing data points that changed rather than storing each 1s data point, which is what happens when you enable 1s recording. All data is recorded at 1s intervals by default but Smart Recording will 'lose' data points if there has not been any changes.

Since space is no longer a limitation I now use 1s recording.

  • Just submitted bug:

Fenix 6 Pro. Was working fine, turned it off, and later turned back on. It says "Incoming call" in notification. There is no call incoming or ongoing. I can't clear it either. Phone is Google Pixel 3a, stock, fully updated to latest version.

  • Do you only see it in the notification widget, or is the whole screen constantly showing an incoming call screen now?

I also have a Pixel 3, so I'm willing to try to duplicate the problem, but only if it doesn't wreck the usability of my watch in doing so

  • Hi, you published this version now officially. OK, I don't understand, why the change log is so small. I am on 8.1 and did not follow all the changes during this beta series.

Furthermore, some report better GPS reception. But as I understood, only sensor hub has changed and this has nothing to do with GPS reception (this would be GPS software). Am I right ?

  • Love this new update, I just wish you'd return to having a single button we can press to dismiss notifications!

I can hide them by pressing the bottom right button, but they're still there and now it's a chore to dismiss each one.

    Otherwise, it's a winner!

  • I think it initially presented itself as if a call was coming. It now shows a notification waiting on the main screen and when I go into notifications there is one with "incoming call". A watch reboot does not fix it.

The sequence that got me was -- phone and watch were connected; watch turned off; missed call on phone; watch turned on. I turned it on to check out the new video features on the watch and it happened after I closed the Yoga app - if that matters.

  • Double-click the top right button to dismiss a notification. (First click brings up the menu, with dismiss already being the highlighted option, second click selects "dismiss").

I thought it would be annoying, too, but actually it's really not hard to just double-click the top-right button. Turns out I actually like it, because I used to have to press the top-right button 3 times to see the full message and then dismiss it. You'd get a "snip" of the message, click top-right to see the whole message, click top-right again to open the menu, click top-right a third time to dismiss.

So basically, this new UI saves button clicks for all but those notifications where you don't care to read the whole thing.
