Hello Everyone,

I purchased but not yet recieved a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro. Based on a lot of functionnality that I wanted to switch from an apple watch S5 because I was a lot piss of the poor battery quality.

Then I read on the internet a little too late that the WHR was a nightmare and almost not usable. Most of the reviewer on the internet say that this watch is almost perfect and not mentionning any issues. Based on them this watch is almost perfect!  I also saw that there was a update of the sensor quite recently 5.06?

So my question is , what's the actual status? I don't really like to use Chest HR so I loved the optical sensor of the apple Watch but do you still recommand this watch or I should refuse my parcel. We are talking about a watch of almost 700 euros so.. if the WHR is not usable I won't use it...

Thanks in advance for your good advices.

The engineers don’t read it but people who are on the fence for this watch will. I don’t have one yet and wonder if the horror stories concerning “bad” gps, inaccurate sleep tracking are true or not - or under what circumstances. It’s very hard to judge posts like the OP did since it usually lacks context.

I have to say though, I do see them appear often - the gps and sleep tracking rants. So there must be some truth behind it ?

  • if you only ever base your buying decisions on what complaints people have had about it on the internet, then you'll never buy any product from any company.

Absolutely! If I feel like my money is burning a hole in my pocket, I'll read just the 1-star reviews.

  • I just did a treadmill run with my F6X running RC 9.0 firmware.

The watch was using WHR and I used an HRM-Dual strap connected to Zwift.

    HRM-Dual average HR 146, Max HR 162.

F6X WHR average HR 154, Max HR 169.

  • With firmware 9.0 Garmin has indeed improved WHR for hiking, the activity I use for hill climbing (low speed) here in SF.  But it still drifts all over the place above and below what my Garmin HRM-DUAL strap reports (to my other watch, carried along in my pocket for occasional testing).  I still recommend waiting for the 7 or getting the 5 plus.

The negative posts in these forums are all true, absolutely true as why else would people be taking the time to post them? But equally true and for the same reasons, are the positive posts.

However, it's human nature for people to complain rather than praise, hence why you will always see more complaints in these forums than otherwise.

But if you choose to believe the negative posts, you should also believe the positive ones too.

You are waiting for the 7 but I can tell the 6 is totally unuseful from a WHR prospective. It doesn' t work at all when hiking  . I think ai will sell it in the second market at 50% of the price and I will buy a Suunto

I bought the Fenix 6 just for the OHR because before I used my Fenix 3 + the chest belt and I was very happy.

To spend 800 euro and at the end having a watch with a HR sensor totally not working it is frustrating

My Fenix 6 X OHR 7/24 mode never pick up current HR well, this is a replacement watch since the last one has the same problem, to prove this is a problem, I have wear my FR935 and the OHR of 935 works just fine! either in sport mode or 7/24 tracking mode, the OHR is hard to pick up my HR, the firmware Ver. was V3.XX, I have a older replacement, anyway, after upgrade to Ver.9 still the same!

In this video I use blue tooth chest strap with ipone, the OHR can have 50bpm different!

  • Meanwhile some of the Fenix6 OHR working PERFECTLY for them, but not for me...

my case is exactly same as your...
