ClimbPro question

Hi all

Can someone please explain the ClimbPro feature to me?
I created a route on Garmin Connect and turned on ClimbPro during navigation which enabled the ClimbPro screen and showed me how long till the next climb and the extra info during the climb. I expected the watch to automatically switch to the screen at the start of an ascent but had to manually select the ClimbPro data screen to see it..
Is the watch supposed to do this and did I experience a bug or were my expectations wrong and do you need to manually select the screen in order to get the ClimbPro info?

You can activate automatic ascent and ask for the climpro screen. What you ask for is achievable but you have to combine it with the auto climb functionality.

Could you give some more info on the exact settings to achieve this? I see a lot of options under automatic ascent but nothing referencing ClimbPro?

Launch an activity then go to the climpro screen, then in the auto assension activity and ascension screen parameters said current screen.

I tried it during 2 separate rides but on the first one it switched to the map view and for the second ride it stayed on the same data screen (but with inverted colours).

I tried and I also couldn't get exactly what you want. For the moment I think it's not possible and it's a shame

Yes it seems like a very logic use of the ClimbPro functionality to have it pop up at the start of a climb but I haven't found any way to do it for now.

I asked Garmin Fitness on Twitter and after a few days of back and forth including some DM's, if I understand them correctly it should auto switch to the ClimbPro screen at the start of a climb if you're navigating a route created on Garmin Connect and ClimbPro is turned on. They have now created a case and said they'll likely contact me by email for more info. Let's hope this is just a bug that can be solved.
