Disable BT but keep ANT+ on

Hello everyone,

Still looking to reduce battery consumption during activities...

Is it possible to disable all BT connections during ativities, and keep only ANT+ on for sensors ? Or do you have to keep both BT and ANT+ for sensors ?

Power mode menu only allows for phone turn off, so I assume BT remains on since you can pair a BT headset...
I would like to turn BT off completely but keep ANT+ sensors (stryd and dual HRM belt).

Thanks for the tips !

  • They are independent.  Turn off BT, you'll still see ANT sensors.

  • Best way to do what you are describing, go into your Phone menu on your watch. Menu > Phone and toggle your Status to OFF for the connection to your smartphone using Bluetooth. Once done with your activity and wanting to be Bluetooth connected to your phone, go back and turn your Status back to ON.

  • You can use power modes to also turn music (and headset) off. Note that the Bluetooth stack for audio consumes far more power than Bluetooth Low Energy used for sensors.

ANT+ and Bluetooth sensors are either On or Off - you can't be selective. However, after the initial sensor search on opening an activity, I think the watch only searches for new sensors once every 60 seconds rather than data transmission every second. Sensors that are not connected and sending data represent a very low power drain.

If you are looking for additional battery savings, the display timeout (available in power modes) will give you several additional hours of run time. Also, avoid having maps as your main active screen (keep them as a secondary display if you need to refer to them for a navigation screen) - constantly re-rendering the map as you move along is a major processor (and therefore also battery) hog.

With GPS only, phone and music off, display timeout and HR via chest strap rather than wrist, I get an estimated run time of 53 hours, which is a nice extension to the advertised 36 hours on my F6 Pro.
