At the point that it’s making indents on your skin, it’s too tight. Loosen it up a bit or try a nato band.
You're wearing the strap, very obviously, too tight.

To echo Odie21’s comment, if you’re wearing it that tight 24/7 then you’re wearing it too tight. I tighten mine up for activities but back it off a notch or two when not active. I also remove it and dry the watch and my wrist after showers or when wet and leave it off for an hour or so each day.
I had a more minor reaction when I first got mine, but now I switch my watch to the other wrist when sleeping to give the skin some time to breathe. I haven't had a problem since.

Hi, which strap is that?
I'm having the same reactions since fitting the chestnut leather strap to mine. I'm definitely not wearing it too tight, and I'm washing it regularly.
I did start swapping wrists, but now both are bad and I'm just going to have to leave it off for a while. I would switch back to silicon, but for some reason I left it in my desk in office and currently working from home due to the virus.
Had this as well. Since I take the watch off every morning, rinse the band with soap and swap wrists every day or two, no more problems.
I have the same. I suppose that there is something with strap material.
it's not the strap, it's what gets caught and dwells under it and the watch body.
i have similar effects esp. now when i use a lot of soap, hand sanitiser, alcohol and general disinfectants.
i only have it on the part of the skin where the watch backside (sensors) are sitting, guess it's due to the large steel plate.
On an AW4 which has a larger glass-like back bulge, i don't have this.
Not sure how you can say that with such certainty. I've been wearing Garmin watches for about 4 years, always using silicone straps.
My problem has only started since switching to this particular strap, nothing has changed re cleaning.
My problem is also only under the strap, not under the watch itself (fenix 6).
It's definitely not good for your skin to wear something so occlusive 24/7. Skin swells due to higher humidity and bacteria can grow very well under such conditions. It's better for your skin not to wear the watch every night - are the data really so relevant? This watch is made for endurance sports, so far at least for me sleep tracking and counting the steps between sofa and fridge is not important.
