I'm just guessing, but bigger battery, mapping being more processor intensive = more internal heat generation??
vivoactive 3 only goes to 45 for charging and 50 for operating: VA3 Specifications
vivoactive 4 only goes to 45 for charging, but does make it to 60 for operating: VA4 Specifications
fenix 6 only goes to 45 for both charging and operating: fenix 6 Specifications
My guess is that Garmin reduced the max operating temp so they could meet the extended battery life specs.
What I found more interesting is that the new tactix Delta is also restricted to 45 for both charging and operating: tactix Delta Specifications
If true, that would make the tactix Delta unsuitable for anyone deploying to the Middle East - certainly not what Garmin intends, I'm sure.
You should call or E-mail Garmin Support and ask them - it's an interesting question.

Va 3, 4 venua all 5ATM . The pressure can hold for 50 meter water pressure. And it can stand for 60c operating
Where fenix 6 series can hold double then 5ATM, however oeprating just for 45C. It is unsound
