Trying to figure all this out..

Hi guys.. trying to educate myself on the best way to use the Garmin “Eco system”.   For 7 months I have loved using the FR245m.   At the time I was just running and going gym stuff.   I always use the Polar OH1 with the watch, so I never have been concerned about the built in OHR sensor being accurate or not.  The results I get from the arm band are great and seem accurate.  This is not the issue.

Recently, I upgraded to the 6s, really because I just wanted a nicer watch (not for the features).  Tho, now I have the training status bars.. and trying to make sense of everything.  The problem is that I also use the EDGE 530 with my bike.  I had another thread going where I learned that the Edge is not compatible with transferring over IM (Intensity Minutes)  This is so annoying..  but, I cant do anything about it.   The other thing I am wondering, is if its also not transferring over Heat acclamation?  From yesterdays long ride I could have sworn the 530 said I was 80%..  then, today for my run with the 6s, it says I am 63%.

This again is very annoying.   I feel like I have two totally different tracking systems, and it should all be the same with Garmin Connect being the hub.

Anyway..   Let’s move on..

I have now noticed that my VO2 max seems to go down with every run.  This is again… annoying.   Maybe my fitness is going down, maybe not.. the problem is I am loosing confidence in all of this, as its clearly not connected well or talking with the different things I do.  I saw other topics on this very thing and saw where, it was recommended to turn off auto HR settings?  (I cant find this setting anywhere)  I can see in GC where the HR data is for the user, and I can see where I can change this or the three different types of calculations I can choose (currently on default, based on % of max).   I am 38yrs old..  and it shows my max as 192bpm.   Then creates the zones accordingly.   The crossing point between zone 3 and 4 is 154bpm.  EVERY time I run, I am well into 160, and days like today was around 170avg.  The point is, that my status is always “unproductive” and says I focus too much on “High” etc..

The other confusing thing is my max HR?  I saw online where it says to take your age from 220.  So, based on this basic metric it would be much lower at 182!  If this were the case, all of my scores would be even worse!

So, I am indeed left wondering if there is something wrong with me, or just my setup on Garmin needs to change?   I am 5’10”  143lbs, and in fairly good shape as I think anyone would think by looking at me.  Granted, I am still new to running and biking (tho I have gone 2k miles in the past 5 months).

Thoughts?
