An app that shows data from watch on smartphone

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some app for Android that allows me to see real time data from watch on smartphone when exercising.

I need this for bicycling. I know I can put watch on bicycle handlebar but smartphone has 6" screen, and my 6x only 1.4", it's too small.

  • That would be a feature request for the Garmin Connect software.

    So nothing for now? Disappointed

  • 3rd party apps don't have that kind of access. Garmin has to add it or it won't happen.

  • Extended display is part of ant+ so potentially a phone with ant+ could display all that data for you.

A quick googling revealed no such apps though.

See more about extended display here: www.thisisant.com/.../

Johanwiren, thank you for your effort.

I thought it would be a simple thing :(

  • Does the data have to come from the watch? Is it not acceptable to use a standalone app for your phone? I haven't tried this myself as I have no need, but it looks pretty feature rich and has Ant+ support, if your phone does.

eezytiger, Right now I am using regular Android app for bike - Wahoo - it's pretty good.

But I have spent ~800$ for my watch so I want to use it, not some Android app.

Right now I am using both at the same time - Fenix 6X and Wahoo. There are some differences (slight, but still...) in measurement

Also I have to turn on and off everytime both of these when I am riding - I know it's not that much, but when you buy the best sport watch in the world, you expect best solutions.

Anyway, Thank you for your answer.

  • When I ride outdoors I have my Fenix on my wrist, recording the ride. At the same time I have a Wahoo ELEMNT bike computer on my bike. They record independently and I am happy with that. The sensor data is the same to both. Maybe GPS varies a little, but not enough to care.

I use my Fenix data to inform my 24x7 physiological metrics, like calories, stress, body battery and my VO2max. The data from my Wahoo goes to Strava where I can analyse things like segments, speed, ascent etc..

Garmin never promised that the watch would mirror data to another device. I'm fine with that. It doesn't matter the cost. If it's not supposed to mirror data then why should it? You can wish it, but you can't expect it or demand it.

  • But I have spent ~800$ for my watch so I want to use it, not some Android app.

But that is exactly what you want to do. In reality, if your phone is connecting to your sensors or your watch, what is the difference?

The only way to do what you want is to use the remote screen option on the Garmin Edge units.I used it on my last Tri and found it somewhat useful though I will never do it again.

Not exactly. I am happy with my Wahoo App. But I think GPS in Garmin is much better. After long ride I can see differences in total distance (Fenix 6x vs Wahoo).

Also I would like to see on my smartphone  (in my Wahoo app) my heart rate from Fenix 6x - that is the biggest problem for me Sob
