Fenix 6s Pro, will white background consume more battery during activity data screen?

As known, 6s pro has less battery capability comparing with 5X plus.

I am planning a 10-13hours hiking with my friend, she owns 6s pro while I have 5X Plus.

Whether set the background color to black in DATA SCREEN will save more battery since the pixels in Data Screen will keep changing during activity?

Please advise.

No difference in power consumption in black or white background. The display is a MIP transflective LCD. Only draw power when a pixel is change.

I have done some 8 - 9h hikes with my 6s and by extrapolating the bty usage a 13h activity should be possible (using the 'Hiking' profile, but TBH I DID carry a battery bank for phone and watch if required…

Yes, create a custom power mode, then alter the Hike settings to apply that power mode.

6S Pro has a rated GPS life of 25 hours (which is only 7 hours less than your 5X+). A long day hike should be a non-issue.

I'd suggest a custom power mode for the hike that turns the phone and music off. These will be bigger power savers than background color. You could even program a display timeout to shut down the screen completely (re-activated via gesture).

If the GPS life 25hours is considered under the real case of pixels in data screen always changing, then it will not be a problem to 13 hours hiking.

By the way, the "time out shut down screen" means the screen become to "black" or say "display nothing"? OR just means the light on the screen is off, but data screen is still showing?

The screen is shut down and displays nothing (comes back on with a turn of the wrist).

This is separate from the backlight timeout. Backlight is a much bigger power drain.

On my 6 Pro, using the Display Timeout extends battery life by 7 hours.

This was without music, but with oHR. You can switch off oHR and BT, not sure if it will make a material diff.

Oh! I didn't aware of that. I only know where to set the backlight time out.

Do you mind to tell where to find the timeout setting for screen?

(I tried to find such setting by adding one "power mode"), is that the only place to configure that?
