Hi,

I have never owned a Garmin.

Made my entry into smart watch world with a Samsung gear sport that came in a deal with the Note 9 phone.

Loved my protrek and edifices but realised i dont wear them, since the gear sport.

Gone through almost every forum or reviews. I live in a small town in the Himalayas i doubt i will physically be able to see the watches. A friends coming from canada will ship him the watch from amazon.

My criteria for the watch was:-

Basic watch functions (like the casio protreks) with a Awesome battery life / Golfing / Music while i cycle / Daily activity monitoring sleep/walk/heart beat and stuff. And the looks ofcourse.

Seeing all the watches the vivos and the S62 etc they all have a plain bezel while the Fenix has this very smart/chunky look so as far as looks department goes for me Fenix 6 is a winner.

My gear sport is a 42 mm took sometime getting used to it, going 51mm seems daunting.

Gear sport weighs 67 grams and didnt bother me while i golf or sleep.

Has touch screen but a Terrible battery life! Its always on power saving mode and doesnt give me more than 2 days.

Do advice how much of the golf features will i miss out on if i get the fenix 6 pro (47mm , heavier by not much and thicker).

I do have and use a range finder.

Also had a Shotscope watch my worst experience with Golf watch, took forever to find the course, would show wrong yardages and barely lasted a round and took forever to chare.

Also so many mixed reviews on sapphire vs gorilla.

Would of course prefer the one which is more clear and easy to read at a glance, is sapphire really so dim that its tough to read.

I am not into hiking or into running.

Its golf, cycling, cross fit.

Do advice!
Thank you.
Baba

  • definitely pro, had an older "s" golf watch, no need for that get a pro, you will have all the activities in one watch. (just get one with maps storage, but that the pro is.

used 6x sapphire for golfing last week, works perfectly, nice hole display, now even shows automatically distance after each shot. I can even select from which tee I go (yellow, white), keeps score, can count hcp, no need for range finder, shows nicely distance to begin, mid and end of the green. once you are on green, shows the green itself.

And it is excellent for cycling.

here a golf use video I found on net

as you have the X do you find it bulky compared t the 6 pro. I like the 6 Sapphire  due to the color vs the black on 6 pro.

dont have a problem with my 42 , going to a 47, would the 51 be too much of jump, i have very narrow wrists.

    thanks for the quick reply.

  • well I have Quatix 5 that is a Fenix 5 actually. No maps.

Wanted maps so went to shop, tried 6 pro and 6x sapphire. 6x looked better on my wrist. It is bigger, but not really so much.

But I do not think my wrist is narrow.

Still I would suggest you to do the same. Go to shop, try it. What will suite you, then buy where ever you want.

Left always Quatix 5, right 6x sapphire.

Oh, and personally I do not see any reading issues with Sapphire screen.

I am unable.to see golf hole map on my watch..Fenix Sapphire..can see it on my phone Garmin app. How do I see it on watch?

  • i had similar dilemma about the size.. i too have thin wrists. and i didn't have an option of exchange or viewing watches in person.. however i went for fenix 6 pro.. fortunately Garmin has reduced the lug to lug distance in fenix 6 series so I don't find fenix 6 pro to be too bulky or unfit for my wrist.. well no onehone ever pointed out that it looks bulky..its a 47 mm...

since it has weight i could feel that for first few days as i I was coming from a Seiko/Casio heritage.. but after few days this watch became unnoticeable. sometime when i shift wrist thats the only time i realize its weight... but only to get accustomed in a few days again

I have been using it for 9 months and so far so good..

  • I recently upgraded from the 5 Plus to the 6 Sapphire, have played several rounds of golf, and so far it's worked flawlessly. It looks like they've ported the fully featured golf app from the S62 to the Fenix 6 line. Full hole maps and touch targeting for distances anywhere on the course, controlled by the up and down arrows, auto shot works flawlessly for all but chips and putts, custom yardage points, pin pointer, etc.
