Lactate Threshold is always "Manual Entry"

My fenix 6 often calculates my lactate threshold. For some reason the watch lactate threshold never updates. It always shows "Manual Entry" under Lactate Threshold and does not show a pace, or update to show a pace whenever my watch calculates the lactate threshold.

I'm not sure why the watch is not updating the field.

I agree you can see the LTHR and pace under the Vo2Max widget.

Mine worked before but has presented the above issue over the last month, so definitely a software issue.

I also know it works since it correctly…

But does that work? My connect app is up-to-date but my Garmin's LT pace and LTHR under the VO2Max widget says "Manual Entry."

LTHR Detected on today's run and here are all the readings:

Watch > Performance Widget > LT Manual Entry > 168
Watch > Settings > User Profile > Heart Rate > LTHR > 168
Garmin Connect iOS > Performance > Lactate Threshold > 165
Garmin Connect iOS > Device > User Settings > Heart Rate Zones > LT > 165

I can confirm that my watch now lists the lactate threshold correctly after a workout under the VO2Max widget. I think the fix was going into the Garmin Connect app and setting the LT zones for RUNNING. <- not something you can do on the watch. You go under the watch, under user profile, to hr zones then over to running and set then AGAIN. Then on the next time your watch picks up your LT it should not overwrite what is on the watch. Super weird and go-around fix that works. Thank you Bernd for the answer.

I am probably just tired. Can you just explain what I have to do again... the other question is that after as I continue to train does everywhere automatically just any updates to the LT value?

Same problems here and I have never seen it update after a run that should register a new LT value. Did 14 x (30 sec RPE 9, 30 sec walk) today with HR up at not far off max but no LT value update on completion (I could certainly feel the lactic build up). Will raise to garmin and see what they say.

No issues from me when recording LT values. 14 x 30 sec is a VO2Max workout, not LT, so I'm not surprised it did not register. I'd recommend you try the LT test on your wrist to see if it records a value at the end. Otherwise, race a 10k or run in Z4 for 20+ minutes for a likely LT reading.

Good to know about having to be in zone 4. I have done LT test and although it gave me a value, the watch and connect did update when I accepted it. I had to change in manually in the end. Garmin are looking into it.

The problem you just described is the reason I created this post. There is a solution I have verified works (see two verified solutions above). You need to set your RUNNING LT zones on Garmin Connect and next time you get a LT reading your watch will update and not show manual entry.

I've set that up as suggested but thought the run today may have worked. I'll have to wait and see if it does when i do a qualifying run in zone 4 or a dedicated test. Thanks for the help to date.

Any updates on whether or not this bug has been fixed? I have been experience the same issues when my watch detects a new LT or MaxHR.
