I have been a Garmin user since the Forerunner 630 and have run 5 marathons, a 50k and TONS of kms of training since then. I switched to a 645 Music and then recentely to a Fenix 6 Sapphire.
The Fenix 6 is nothing short of amazing. It gives me everything I need as a runner and also maps for getting lost in the woods while running. I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase.
(If you are a new user in this forum, then stop reading here. The watch currently on you wrist is awesome. It will give you some excellent help reaching your training goals! Have fun!)
There is one thing that bugs me though.
Wearing a watch day to day sends out a message, something about your identity and belonging to a group. I am apparently in the group ”Fenix owners”.
Reading these forums I realize that the group ”Fenix owners” all seem to be about getting the most expensive, best looking fitness tracker, counting steps, calories and tracking your HR 24/7. How to get the most value out of the current state of your watch while exercising seems irrelevant and complaining over and over again about the same issues is all that matters while ignoring tips on how to work around issues found in the watch.
Now that is not a group I identify with and I am considering switching to the Forerunner line of products again. A Forerunner sends a totally different message than a Fenix. People don’t just accidentally buy that one thinking it is a pretty fitness tracker. They buy it for a reason.
WDYT, should I switch?

But frankly, I am actually a bit worried about the general perception of Fenix owners. LOVE the watch though (with issues)
