Making an out-and-back hiking course

I often do hikes that are an out-and-back type of trail, and whenever I make a course for the trail on Connect, I'm never sure whether I should create the course as an actual out-and-back (as in, a track that turns around at the end and makes a second track back to the start), or if I should just make a one-way course that goes from the start to the end, and then use the watch's "tracback" function at the end to return back to the start.

I've tried both, and neither seems to have any big advantage over the other, but maybe I'm missing something. Does anyone know if there are advantages to using one method versus the other?
