ALTIMETER ISSUE - FENIX 6X PLUS SAPPHIRE

Hello everybody, I am having an altimeter issue since the latest OS updates.
Data is completely wrong. I live in Milan (120 MT above sea level) but the altimeter shows 1841 MT! I have also tried several times to autocalibrate the watch but it doesn't fix the issue. Is anybody here having the same issue?

No, you don't "have to" manually calibrate it before every activity. I don't, and it works fine with just the auto-calibrations turned on. But if you want to be 100% sure that the altimeter is spot-on…

no, it is a typo, the model is the fenix 6x - pro sapphire edition

ABC Screen showing a falling Baro indicator

Altimeter screen showing a constant Elevation

Barometer screen showing falling pressure

This is the way the Altimeter should work…

You should calibrate it manually.
Barometric altimeters need to be calibrate before use manually. Like every pilots in every plane do !

Hi, i did it several times but the issue was not fixed. anyway, i have never had any altimeter issue, i am having it only since the last OS updates, 6.0 and 6.1, ciao!

Make sure watch is set in barometer mode. This setting in the watch tends to change randomly to auto and cause issues with altimeter, barometer and climbed floor count in Garmin Connect.

Go to barometer widget, pres and hold UP button, select Barometer Options and scroll down to Watch Mode. Change to Barometer if it is not on Barometer.

Now you can calibrate altitude and it will not change. Also disable automatic calibration in altimeter options.

If watch is in Altimeter (seems same for Auto) mode - every change of atmospheric pressure is regarded as change in altitude and this messes up altitude reading if change in pressure was not due to change in altitude (weather change). This in turn messes with barometer which is then adjusted to sea level and then you get both barometer and altitude showing wrong...

Try to do a soft reset of your watch ?
Both your barometer and altimeter need to be calibrate manually then.

This is the way the Altimeter should work, IMHO.

The settings used to achieve this performance are:

MENU > Sensors & Accessories > Altimeter > Auto Cal. > Not During Activity [On]

MENU > Sensors & Accessories > Altimeter > Auto Cal. > During Activity [Off]

MENU > Sensors & Accessories > Barometer > Watch Mode > Auto

Before starting any Activity which uses GPS I manually calibrate the Altimeter with known Elevation if available, or DEM if I do not know the current Elevation. GPS Altimeter calibration is simply not very accurate.

Works for me.

Surely we shouldn't have to calibrate the GPS every time we do a training session, it is supposed to be a top of the range watch. IS this seriously the only solution?
