perfectly normal cardio activity logged w/ 54 minutes HR 166 avg, 188 high not contributing to intensity minutes?

I did an activity type cardio session and logged heart rate. It logged and uploaded fine and is visible as an activity in the app. 54 minutes w/ average HR 166 high 188, activity looks fine in the app I had 5.0 aerobic training effect and 3.9 anaerobic. but my intensity minutes for today is zero 0 ? for sure this is vigorous enough to contribute, most of my other more chill activities add up.

Seems this is a common issue.

  • You need to log at least 10 CONTINUOUS minutes at or above the threshold for Intensity Minutes in order to record ANY Intensity Minutes.  Drop below the threshold - even for a second - and the 10-minute timer starts over with no minutes earned.

For example, if you have set up your Intensity Minutes to be based on HR Zones (do this in GC Web) 3 and 5, then you must log at least 10 continuous minutes in Zone 3 to log earn minutes. Drop into Zone 2 at all and the timer starts over.

Can you post a HR Graph from GC Web of your activity?  And how you have set up your Intensity Minutes (Auto or by HR Zone)?  That should explain why you are not earning any minutes.

  • Very good, thank you for the answer! BTW kudos on the nick.

that seems quite reasonable to explain why I have zero minutes for Sunday, my limit for zone 3 is 130 bpm and I have no 10-minute stretches that quite make that goal, as demonstated in pic.

But then that doesnt explain why I have 200 logged minutes from Friday where I had a +1 hr strength session (pictured, didn't make the cut) and 2 bike rides of 12-15 minutes each (that both made the cut) and I really can't remember or see from the daily graph that I did anything else Friday. is there another set of conditions/rules/category that I DID pass to gain so many points Friday? bc in activity tracking settings there is also moderate activity ? and if so, why didn't my cardio session on Sunday pass that lower bar? Or is that just not how it works? I've been googling it and level 3 =130 bpm seems to be limit for moderate activity.

    Intensity Minutes
To improve your health, organizations such as the World Health Organization recommend at least 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity activity, such as brisk walking, or 75 minutes per week of vigorous intensity activity, such as running.
The device monitors your activity intensity and tracks your time spent participating in moderate to vigorous intensity activities (heart rate data is required to quantify vigorous intensity). You can work toward achieving your weekly intensity minutes goal by participating in at least 10 consecutive minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity activities. The device adds the amount of moderate activity minutes with the amount of vigorous activity minutes. Your total vigorous intensity minutes are doubled when added.
    Earning Intensity Minutes
Your fēnix device calculates intensity minutes by comparing your heart rate data to your average resting heart rate. If heart rate is turned off, the device calculates moderate intensity minutes by analyzing your steps per minute.

Start a timed activity for the most accurate calculation of intensity minutes.

Exercise for at least 10 consecutive minutes at a moderate or vigorous intensity level.

Wear your device all day and night for the most accurate resting heart rate.
