Garmin Pay setup fails

I had originally set up Garmin Pay on my iPhone. With some software update the old setup seems to have been deleted.

Since roughly two month, when I try to set up Garmin Pay on my Fenix 6 Pro Sapphire again, I always get an error message on Setup Fails and I can try again and again and again. 

So far, I have not found any way to set up Garmin Pay again on my Fenix 6. Anyone has an idea how to fix? Reboot of phone or watch has not done any difference.

I have read on old posts that at some point it seemed to have been an issue with Garmin Connect software. However, I never read whether this was the real cause and I also never read, whether this was fixed at some point.

Has someone an idea how to fix this issue?

My setup: iPhone with iOS 13.3.1 and Garmin Connect 4.27. My Fenix 6 has firmware version 6.10.
