The weather widget has just stopped gathering data on my Fenix 6.

I'm not aware of any recent changes but the weather widget has just stopped gathering data on my Fenix 6 pro. It has been working perfectly since I purchased the watch in November. Everything is set up correctly with my iPhone 7 and Connect, (always on location services etc). Everything else is working and syncing. Software version 6.00 on the Fenix. Any ideas?

  • Same issue. Powered down, back on. Reconnected Bluetooth. Acquired GPS, a lot of the usual things recommended, but no dice. Very strange. My guess is it has to do with the Connect App itself.

This is not 3 months ago.  The weather app has been working perfectly until today.  It must be a different issue.  Hence the new thread.  RJExcal has the same problem!

  • It might have been working perfectly for you but even a casual look at the existing thread would show you that this is nothing new.

  • The previous thread was addressed with a Garmin Connect App update back in November I believe. This issue appears to be the same issue, just starting to affect devices in the past two weeks. It's really strange, because it worked perfectly until about two weeks ago. Coincidentally, it was around the time of a Garmin Connect update that wanted me to re-pair with the app.

  • Alright - I managed to fix mine.

    Here's what I did:

    1. Delete the Garmin Connect App from iPhone
    2. Keep the Health Data (if you have it in the Health App)
    3. Download Garmin Connect App from App Store
    4. Open App - Give Permissions
    5. Sign In
    6. Allow Garmin Connect to "Complete Setup of Fenix 6"
    7. Re-enabled Health Data Categories as needed.
    8. Select Always Allow When Open for Location Services

After a few minutes, the Weather Widget started operating again on my watch.

EDIT: As a follow up, later on, the App asked me again if I wanted to allow the Connect App access to my location, enquiring if I wanted it to be Always or when just Open. Seems like lots of opportunities to deny the App data.

EDIT2: This only appears to be a temporary solution.

Thanks very much for this.  I have followed your instructions and once again the problematic weather widget is working.  On the reinstallation of the Connect app the location services setting defaulted to "while using" so I had to manually alter it to "always".  Thanks again!

It did work but for less than 24 hours before "Waiting for data" once again appeared.  I'm using Connect v. 4.26.0.20; Garmin Fenix 6 v. 6.00 and iOS v.13.3.1.  As far as I'm aware all up to date. It cannot be necessary to have to continually delete and reinstall every piece of relevant software for this Gamin widget to operate for a few hours.  The watch did cost £700 and it's disappointing. Of course this is not an essential widget and there is more information on the phone in my pocket.  I just feel that it should work!  So many users find this widget a problem.  In the event that someone has a more lasting solution please let me know.

RJExcal - Thank you for the tip. This did work. It’s the first time I have gotten the weather app to work....
