Fenix 6: change data screens while the watch is locked.

I would really like to use lock in most of my activities (which I've figured out how to enable), but to my surprise, once locked the watch stops responding to up / down keys too so data screens can't be changed. I am used to a different behavior with another brand. It seems quite inconvent to have  to constantly unlock the watch just to change data screens.

It would be really nice to have an option for that, e.g. whether lock applies to all keys or just action keys like lap, start/stop, etc.

  • I also use auto-lock. The watch locks a few seconds after the activity is started.

A long press(around 1s) on any button (maybe except the back-light button, not sure)   unlocks it. I do my thing and then, after a few seconds it locks back automatically.

P>S> This got me thinking about my Edge830 - i think on this device, after the screen is locked you can still cycle between the screens manually but you cannot change anything else. I have to try this when I get home.

  • Resolved issue: I had defined a hot key for Lock/Unlock (START&DOWN). Therefore I had to use the hot key after auto lock for unlocking. After deleting the hot key it's working as described above. Thanks again!

  • I agree, the lock should be only for start/stop the activity. It would make more sense to be able to scroll between screens. It's a pity it's not possible. I have a hotkey defined to be able to lock/unlock fast, but still, the Suunto kind of lock would be better. Too bad ! We can't have it all with one brand ;)

  • Thanks! Auto-lock is the best solution so far. It is still annoying to do an extra button press every time but good enough.

Having the option I mentioned above would still be good.

  • the lock should be only for start/stop the activity

Arguably also the lap button (since you can't remove lap markers after the fact, so it's annoying to accidentally hit that) and should also lock you out from accidentally opening the menu with the Up button.
