No GPS fix since this weekend, thinking about installing beta sw

Since this weekend I am having big troubles with the GPS of my watch. At the moment I cannot get a GPS fix at all. (started with the GPS 2.7 update)

Tried all sorts of resets, GPS soaks but to no avail.

Normally not a beta sw fan so never installed it. Because things can not get worse I thought I might take the change and install the latest beta version and hope my GPS problem is solved this way.

Plan on returning to normal rolled out sw updates when my problems are solved. Will I get the normal (automatic) updates when I installed a beta version? Or which actions should I take to get back in the normal update cycle after this?

  • Yes you will get the usual updates once a public release comes out. However, I don't think this would make any difference to your problem.

The only thing that GPS 2.7 was supposed to do was to fix the issues with slow connections to satellites. Try the following:

    • Connect to your computer and delete the CPE file from your RemoteSW folder.
    • Remove the watch and do a hard reset - press and hold top left button until it shuts down.
    • Restart and sunny with Garmin Express.
    • Check status of CPE file - Swettings, System, About then scroll through until you get to the CPE information.
    • Put the watch outside and get a GPS soak.
    • Test
  • Thank you for your reply. I think it was you who suggested this in an other topic also (which is appreciated). However the watch is still telling CPE missing. I checked and it is in the SWremote folder. I can delete it, and there is a new one after I synced with GE but that is it...

  • An update to the latest beta software did not do the trick. Still says no CPE. And still no GPS fix... really is frustrating.

Resets, reinstalls, soaks. Think I tried all I can.

Any suggestions, things to try before I send it back?
