Suggestion feature add

Hello! I'm the proud and very happy owner of a Fenix 6X Pro. I always use a Garmin HRM Run when I go out on a run and I have to always go into the menu and check if the HR strap sensor is connected and in use. Wouldn't it be possible for Garmin to add a little icon on the activity display where the heart rate is so that we know what source is being used for the heart rate measurements ? I used to have a Suunto Baro 9 and used it with their chest strap, Suunto had a very elegant solution.

Wet the strap.

Put it on.

Select the activity.

If you have vibrations set to alert you you'll get a vibration and a message telling you that an external HRM has been connected once it's connected.

No need to go to the Sensors and Accessories to check (I assume you were going to that menu)

After choosing your activity, and before pressing start, it shows you all the external sensors that are connected. If you don't wear external hr, the little heart icon doesn't appear because the wrist hr is already enabled. Only the external sensors have icons.

Oh, I didn't know that. So if the heart icon shows up on the activity screen it means my chest strap is connected and working. Very good to know! Thanks.

That's what I do to put it on. And I do feel vibrations but the message doesn't always show up, so I ended up going to the Sensors & Accessories sub menu to check if it is connected.

In 4 months of using the 6x Sapphire, only twice the watch let me know that my Polar H10 is connected and ready to use, thru vibration and message. I don't understand why it doesn't do that every time, like it did on my F3, F5 and F5x Plus. Sometimes it doesn't connect, I see the WHR still on and I have to disconnect and connect the Polar H10 again, to be sure that it is the main source of the hr reading (and I check to see if the LEDs on my WHR are off). It's really annoying to double or triple check every time, but I really hope Garmin will do something about it real soon, because I am not the only one having this issue and it is a problem already reported to Garmin by others.

I always get the message about external hr connected but I'm using a HRM-Run (ANT). Perhaps a bug when using BT sensors?

Yes, going to "Sensors and Accessories" is actually a catch 22, in that when you go there, it tries to connect, even if it wasn't connected before, so if it's then transmitting, it will show connected, even if it wasn't before.

This would be nice for all the other datafields which can use internal or external sensors, too. For example, have a little Tempe icon in the temperature datafield to indicate whether the reading is from the Tempe sensor or internal sensor. I do get the "{tempe connected" message at the beginning, which is great, but I'd also like to see at a glance that it's still connected during the activity.

I agree that a simple icon (or something) would be great peace of mind. Otherwise, there's not very good feedback about whether or not all your sensors are working correctly.

you get a ? Sun shaped? icon for Tempe as far as I remember

Are you connecting via BT or ANT+? (Polar H10 can do ANT+ from FW v.3.0.35)

But H10 does not do Running Dynamics which is why I treasure my very old Garmin HRM Run - using Polars belts are much better than Garmin's.
