New Fenix 6

Hello, I just got a Fenix 6 and immediately downloaded the updates. I am currently working to install the updates but the installation process on my watch is taking forever. How long does this normally take? The updates downloaded successfully and then my watch prompted me to install. Now it has been on the watch screen with the gear wheel and status bar for well over an hour. I am worried that my watch is broken and would just like to know how long I should expect this to take.

I tried that and it did not boot back up. I returned it to REI and got a new unit and the new one is fine.

Map updates are HUGE, so if it is downloading those, it can take a while - particularly if you are on a slower internet connection.

I try to download the firmware, GPS and app updates, and only download map updates once a year or so.

I downloaded the updates in connect, and then the watch prompted me to install the updates. The watch is on the screen with the gear and the status bar and has been working on it for almost an hour now.

Sounds like it got stuck somewhere during the update cycle. It shouldn't take that long, in my experience it only takes a couple minutes.

Try a hard reboot (hold the light button for 10 seconds, I believe) and see if that helps. If not, contact Garmin tomorrow.
